Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

A very happy 2025 to you all - and let's hope that there's some interesting Pink Floyd-related activity on the horizon. This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, has now been released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates were announced, and these have thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA - see all the confirmed and now completed David Gilmour concert dates here. We're eager for your views on each of the shows, and really welcome comments, reviews, pictures or anything else you'd be willing to share with the Floyd community - [email protected] is the address to use - thank you!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue. Don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

New Dark Side Of The Moon book - update Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Wednesday, 04 January 2006

We first told you about a new book about Pink Floyd's classic album, "Dark Side Of The Moon", being published by Ashgate Publishing, back in March 2003. It was obviously in its early stages then, but we're happy to say that the book is now finished, and will be hitting the stores on 12th January.

Speak To Me
Speak To Me: The Legacy
Of Pink Floyd's DSOTM
"Speak To Me: The Legacy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon" will be available as a hardback and paperback (softback) simultaneously - the only difference between them being the bindings.

The book will contain fourteen essays, three interviews and a 50-page annotated bibliography. Literary and music scholars from across the globe will contribute the essays, which all focus on the music, and the three interviews are with Clare Torry, who sings on the album, Mike Gordon of Phish, who have performed the album in concert, and Michael Goldwasser of Easy Star Records, who produced the excellent "Dub Side Of The Moon" reggae tribute to Dark Side - reviewed elsewhere on this website.

You can preorder the book for delivery upon release - use these special Amazon links. For the hardback, click for UK/Elsewhere, US/International, Canada, France or Germany, and if you'd prefer the paperback instead, click for UK/Elsewhere, US/International, Canada, France or Germany. Any items bought through our Amazon links help with the running costs of this website, and we appreciate it!

You can also order it direct from the publishers themselves, using this link at Ashgate.com, where you can also see PDF files of the contents, introduction, and index, as tasters of the book itself.

We should have our copy of the book shortly, so look for our review soon!
