Vernon Fitch, the co-author of a new book about Pink Floyd's The Wall project, has written to us this evening to fill us in with some more detail on it.
"Pink Floyd The Wall - An Examination of Rock's Conceptual Masterpiece" by Vernon and Richard Mahon, will be published by Genesis Publications in December 2004, to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the release of the original album. Genesis Publications are a specialist bunch, who produced the wonderful Psychedelic Renegades book, which featured Mick Rock's archive of Syd Barrett pictures. They will be treating Vernon and Richard's book with similar care and attention, producing a deluxe full-colour hard bound edition.
The book examines the various aspects of Roger Waters masterwork in every detail, including its origins, the studio recording sessions, the staging of the live performances, the shooting of the film, and The Wall Live In Berlin.
It will include hundreds of rare and never-before-seen pictures, including pre-production drawings,
pictures taken during rehearsals, backstage photos, rare posters, live performance shots, concert tickets, passes, media ads, show souvenirs, movie production photos, film cels, movie promos,
production photos from the Berlin show, and more (if that's possible!).
The book promises to be the most in-depth study ever published about a single piece of music, and we hope to have more information, including ordering information, for you soon.
