With just eleven days left until the arrival of the Live 8 DVD, the official website for the release has made the first half of an exclusive interview with Sir Bob Geldof, available as a podcast or download.

Sir Bob recently spoke to the Live 8 DVD team about the joys and struggles of putting together such an amazing, and massive live music event. As the architect of Live 8, and its chief whip, Sir Bob talks us through the highs and the lows, the success and the failure, the emotional and physical effects that this international call to action has had on the world we live in.

You can download the first part of the incredible Live 8 story on to your iPod or other MP3 player right now.

The first part of the story looks at how Sir Bob Geldof got the whole Live 8 gigs up and running from scratch, this time in 9 countries throughout the globe, how it differed from Live Aid and his memories of one of the most amazing days ever. This runs for almost twenty minutes, and is a fascinating look at the development of the event, in Geldof's own words.

The second half of the interview will be available shortly. In it, Sir Bob explains what the experience of playing live to 200,000 people at Hyde Park was like, what was achieved politically and the amazing story of how he persuaded the seminal line up of Pink Floyd, with Roger Waters rejoining David Gilmour and the others, to play at the event.

The full press release for the DVD, with the track listing, and other details, can be found in our 6th September news story. It really is a mammoth set, and deserves a place in music fans homes - not least, as the proceeds go to charity. It can be ordered through our special Amazon links. Any purchases made at Amazon after entering their site using a Brain Damage link, won't affect the amount the charity gets from the sale of these, helps with our running costs, and we really appreciate it!
