Published toward the end of October is a new book about Pink Floyd which will be of principal interest to our Dutch readership, and possibly to other, non-Dutch speaking (or rather, reading) Floyd fans. Pink Floyd Rockklassiekers is published by Verbum, and written by Wouter Bessels. It is part of a range of music books, focusing on individual artists, under the Rockklassiekers banner, which also includes books on Focus, Elvis Presley, Deep Purple and (coming this month) David Bowie.
The 224-page book is a complete history of the band, and their respective solo projects. My grasp of Dutch is pretty much non-existant, so I cannot attest to the quality of the narrative, but it was good to see that the story is very much up-to-date. The book includes the release of David Gilmour's recent album, Rattle That Lock, and the associated tour (illustrated within the pictures), as well as Roger Waters' Wall movie screenings which were held at the end of September in selected cinemas across the world. The book is well illustrated with a wide selection of pictures old and new, some of which will be new to most fans - which may be reason enough for some to add this to the Floydian bookshelves.
You can buy the book now in all good stores across The Netherlands, and it can be purchased online through suitable retailers (the ISBN: 9789074274777). There's also an official Facebook page devoted to the book.
