The forthcoming issue of respected
UK magazine The Word features an indepth, six-page interview with David
Gilmour in which he takes stock of his friends, family, beliefs and
philosophies – and of devious drummers and belligerent former band
leaders.

There looks to be sensational
pictures of him on his houseboat studio on the Thames, Astoria, too.
The people he talks about in detail include Robert Wyatt, Roger Waters,
Nick Mason, Bob “Rado” Klose, John “Willie” Wilson, Syd Barrett, Phil
Manzanera, Crosby & Nash, Richard Wright, and his wife, Polly
Samson.
The Word editor Mark Ellen tells
us that it's also full of revelations, such as this one: “The Live 8
thing was great, but it was closure. It was like sleeping with your
ex-wife. There’s no future for Pink Floyd.” And this at the precise
moment that Waters - who claimed in The Word last October that he
wanted the Floyd to carry on and tour Dark Side Of The Moon – has
advertised dates this summer as "ROGER WATERS – THE GENIUS BEHIND PINK
FLOYD" with Nick Mason on drums, effectively going head-to-head with
Gilmour who is touring with Richard Wright on keyboards. Two halves of
one Floyd in competition!
Gilmour’s revealing interview
appears in the new issue of The Word, in UK stores on March 9th. Single
issues are available by post, internationally, at www.wordmagazine.co.uk.
Our thanks to Mark for the info!
