Turning his back on the idea of "We don't need no education", Pink
Floyd's drummer Nick Mason is actively providing support for a local
school, in a fundraising event to be held tomorrow (Saturday).
The school in question is North Cerney CE Primary School near
Cirencester. Nick keeps his cars near the school and drinks in the
local pub that cooks their lunches! They are holding their PTA
Christmas Fayre this Saturday (November 25th) between 10am and 2pm at
the Village Hall.
Whilst Nick was unable to attend the event, with his customary
generosity he has donated two signed items to be auctioned - a copy of
his book, Inside Out, and the PULSE CD - to help raise funds.
The school are raising money for a new music room in the Victorian
building where space is at a premium. An upstairs store room houses
their drum kit as 4 of the 37 children learn drums, 2 guitar, 4 flute
and 3 piano! They need about £4,000 to reorganise and decorate, to get
equipment/facilities they don't have, and hope to make enough to allow
governors to subsidise lessons for some children.
Nick's signed items should help raise some money for them. They are
offering these as part of a silent auction, and they welcome bids for
them via email at

or telephone 01285-831310 and leave a bid with Sarah Gardiner, the admin officer.
We wish them luck with the event - and any help that BD visitors can offer will surely be appreciated!
UPDATE - November 27th: Whilst the school originally
decided to hold the auction of these two items on Saturday, they have
decided to not close this yet, and welcome further bids. A good
opportunity for you to help Nick's local school, and to bag a rarity,
too!
Bids will be accepted until December 17th, so you still have time to participate.
