phil manzanera With the first of the four, 3-hour specials hosted by Guy Pratt being broadcast on Planet Rock radio from tomorrow night (full details here), we've had more details on this from our friends over at the radio station - and it sounds even more essential listing for Floyd fans!

Guy will be conducting an in-depth interview with Phil Manzanera about his upcoming radio series (more on this below), his new album, and the genesis of David Gilmour's whole On An Island project right up to the live DVD.

Phil is going to present Planet Rock's major summer series. It's a 12 part weekly show called "A Is For Axe", which is the A-Z of Great Guitarists. Phil is such a huge guitar aficionado that he's the perfect chap to go through the different styles of playing of the worlds best players. It starts August 5th, and is on every Sunday at 8pm BST, repeated the following Friday at 6pm BST.

Phil said: "They are a series of shows where I attempt to showcase significant guitarists of the 20 and 21st century playing great guitar tracks and occasionally trying to work out on my guitar how to play certain things, which inevitably turns out to be impossible! I do however solve the mystery of which is a better pick, a sixpence, a 20p piece, a quid coin or a Euro. So important stuff then!"

As a reminder, Guy's 3-hour shows are airing as follows:

- Saturday, July 28th
- Sunday, July 29th
- Saturday, August 18th
- Sunday, August 19th
Each show airs between 9pm and midnight. Guy's interview with Phil will be split over the first two shows, and will be in the 10pm hour both nights.

Those in the UK can tune in to Planet Rock via DAB Digital Radio, on Sky channel 0110, and on cable channel 924. However, the station reaches the world via a live stream at www.PlanetRock.com, so no-one need miss out!
