Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

A very happy 2025 to you all - and let's hope that there's some interesting Pink Floyd-related activity on the horizon. This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, has now been released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates were announced, and these have thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA - see all the confirmed and now completed David Gilmour concert dates here. We're eager for your views on each of the shows, and really welcome comments, reviews, pictures or anything else you'd be willing to share with the Floyd community - [email protected] is the address to use - thank you!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue. Don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

HOW TO HELP THE SITE: If you want to contribute anything - such as concert reviews, articles or pictures - we'd love to hear from you; please email us.

Wall schematic plan by Mark FisherThis week, the Chicago Tribune posted a very interesting article looking at some of the technical details behind The Wall, as seen on the current Roger Waters tour which played it's third show in Chicago last night. As they put it, "to answer one of the great unasked questions in rock 'n roll: All in all, there are precisely 424 bricks in The Wall."

They talk in detail about the size, scale, and logistical background to the bricklaying and subsequent demolition each evening, with the help of Sean Evans (Wall film creator), Jeremy Lloyd (technical designer) and Mark Fisher (architect). Click here to read the article.

Continuing The Wall theme, this coming Sunday (September 26th), Ottawa radio station Chez106 has a two hour "behind the scenes tour special" that begins at noon EDT (which equates to 5pm UK time, and 2am Brisbane). You can hear the station worldwide via their website live. We don't know the nature of the content of this show though, so cannot vouch for how essential a listen it will be! Our thanks to Brent Ingalls for the info on the radio show.
