From various emails we receive, we
know that a number of you are keen guitarists, and love to know the
technical details of the equipment used by the various musicians on
both Pink Floyd and solo projects.
For all of you, keep an eye out
for an upcoming issue of the UK's respected magazine, Guitarist, which
has probed Guy Pratt for details of the equipment he uses on the
current David Gilmour tour, in support of his new album, On An Island.

Guy Pratt, Paris, March 15th |
For those lucky enough to have
already seen one of the shows on David's tour, you will know that Guy
plays an interesting, and varied, selection of instruments - and not
all bass guitars!
These range from his workhorse
bass (actually, a pair of Status "Slab” basses - a Precision slab type
body, with f-hole, Active P-J Pickup configuration and Graphite Neck)
that he uses on many of the songs, through to a Fender Precision
Vintage 58 Reissue ("essential for the older Floyd tunes"), and the
wonderfully rich sounding, visually impressive Framus Electric Double
Bass.
He even gets to play one of David's Strats in the show - which tends to surprise certain members of the audience!
In his equipment breakdown, he
also reveals that his "WEM" cabinets are not what they appear to be...
following some customisation by Phil Taylor, David's guitar tech.
You'll have to read the article to find out what this was, though.
Definitely worth keeping an eye
open for - as soon as we know when the magazine will be hitting the
stores, we'll let you know. The magazine is also available in selected
countries as an import.
In the meantime, our thanks to Guy for letting us know about this!
