Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour this week travelled to the Spanish island of Formentera, for a family
holiday, following the band's headline-making Live 8 appearance. During his visit, he was reported across the media, to be in a bar with a local band, where he apparently decided to join them on stage for a jam - but didn't seem to go down too well with the locals!
One of the musicians said: "He said who he was and at first no one believed him. Finally we let him play, but the guitar didn't have any frets, so he didn't play very well."
David was later reported to have said: "I couldn't believe they hadn't heard of us. It was very funny. But they weren't too keen on my playing."
HOWEVER, we have been told today (July 25th) that the mystery guitarist was none other than Guy Pratt, who was also on the island at the same time as David.
In other news, the BBC poll for the public's view of the best performance at Live 8 is now closed. Pink Floyd easily came in first place, with 180,574 votes out of the total 311,098 cast (which equates to over 58%). Second was Velvet Revolver, with 72,836 (23%), and third, Madonna, with 19,699 (6%). The lowest number of votes received was a paltry 86 votes that Ms Dynamite received (0.03%!). The full results can be found at the BBC.co.uk website.
