A collection of smaller news items for you today, including details of the lucky person who was picked this morning from the stack of correct entries to our Bath and Knebworth Festival box set competition, details of a new Russian edition of Nick Mason's book AND an upcoming cookery programme on UK TV featuring Nick, and a couple of upcoming concerts - a special Aussie Floyd show, and and Aussie orchestra who are putting on a symphonic tribute to Pink Floyd...

First, the box set winner: our congratulations to Phil Dooley, from the UK, who was drawn this morning from the bulging competition inbox. Better luck next time to the hundreds of correct entrants who weren't lucky this time. Of course, the answer was "true" - Pink Floyd's sole UK show in 1975 was at Knebworth. Nick Mason did make a guest appearance at a Gary Windo concert in Maidstone, Kent in November, but none of the rest of the Floyd were there, so it doesn't count!

For those who weren't as lucky as Phil, the limited edition of 200 copies box set can be purchased through this special link. Devoted to Pink Floyd's appearances at both the 1970 Bath Festival and the 1975 Knebworth Festival, this set also contains free gifts of 3 DVDs & 6 CDs, plus a bundle of other goodies. More details here.

inside out russian 2nd edition A second edition of the Russian version of Nick Mason's excellent "Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" has been published in that country. The book has new cover design, and some of the mistakes found in the first edition have been fixed. The publisher is the same, “Amphora”. The retail price is almost the same too, and it is limited to 5000 copies.

On Monday, June 2nd, at 6:30pm, Nick appears on "A Taste Of My Life" on BBC2 TV in the UK. A biographical chat show hosted by Nigel Slater, it "explores the lives and loves of celebrities through their experiences of food". Alongside the likes of Rory Bremner and Chris Tarrant, Nick rustles up a Middle Eastern delight. No stranger to the kitchen, Nick is a keen chef, and indeed holds the Guinness World Record for cooking the world's biggest crumpet in 2000!

Our Australian friend Andrew Herborn has contacted us with the information that the highly respected Queensland Orchestra are staging a tribute evening to Pink Floyd. Being held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday, July 18th, tickets are now available through Ticketek.com or call 132 849.

The evening promises to be "a psychedelic fusion of rock and symphony, featuring more than 70 of Queensland’s finest musicians".

Songs to be given the full orchestral treatment include the Pink Floyd Overture, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Astronomy Domine, Scarecrow, Dark Side Suite, Time, Money, Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them, Eclipse, The Dogs of War, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Signs of Life, Learning to Fly and of course, Another Brick in the Wall. More details here.

Finally, continuing the Australian theme, popular tribute band the Aussie Floyd are performing a special summer show in Leeds at the historic Harewood House. Performing Dark Side of the Moon plus "the Best of Floyd", the show takes place on Saturday, June 28th. Gates will open at 4.30pm, and the concert starts at 7.30pm.

You can book tickets for The Australian Pink Floyd Show via the credit card hotline on 0114 256 5656. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Box Office from 10am - 6pm Monday to Saturday. More details of the show, and the band, at www.AussieFloyd.com.
