With David Gilmour's new album, On
An Island, arriving in less than seven days (it hits the stores on
March 6th in the UK and Europe, and March 7th in the US), we have news
of how you can tune in to a preview of the complete album, and also win
tickets for the special BBC performance by David and his band!
First, that preview. Do you fancy
hearing the album in full, with David introducing each track? Of course
you do! Some 400 radio stations in the US are offering the facility to
do just that - via a special on-demand "Sneak Peek" of the album,
created by Clear Channel. This is the link you need; it will be available until March 2nd.
It is great to hear David
introduce each of the tracks, giving an insight into what is a lovely,
and very personal, album. The quality, as an internet stream, isn't
perfect, and to foil pirates, there is a deliberately annoying tag line
that appears intermittently over the songs, for copyright purposes, but
this is not bad enough to stop you taking that initial listen prior to
hearing the real thing, from your very own CD!
Turning to the special BBC concert that David is performing, for later broadcast, the excellent blog over at DavidGilmour.com (which in itself has become an essential daily visit, is offering a pair of tickets to visitors to the site. Visit the blog for full details... you need to be quick, and be resident in the UK. Good luck in your efforts to get a pair!
Talking of winning - don't forget that our competition to win 'On An Island' goodies ends at midnight GMT on March 5th - so get your entry in! And good luck!
Our thanks to Michael Soucy for his help.
The album can now be ordered for delivery upon release (if you are quick!), through these special links: US/International, UK/Europe, Canada, France or Germany.
And finally, we know that a
number of you will also want to buy the vinyl edition (or indeed,
instead of the CD version!). Here's the links you need for this
edition, which will be in a specially designed gatefold sleeve: Amazon UK, France, or Germany.
The vinyl edition will be released shortly after the CD version - as
yet we don't have the exact date, but you shouldn't have to wait too
long. A painstaking job is being taken with this edition, so should be
worth it!
