The March 2008 issue of the UK's Guitar & Bass Magazine has just arrived on the store shelves, and in it is a fascinating 7-page article and interview with Phil Taylor, David Gilmour's guitar tech (amongst other duties).
Starting life as "a humble production line instrument", the iconic guitar has been heavily modified over the years, and Phil takes the interviewer through an interesting tour of its history. Of course, details are brief, and the full story (along with some wonderful pictures) can be found in Phil's book The Black Strat (review and ordering details here).
Phil also gives an update on the progress Fender are making on a DG Signature Strat. Whilst nothing is definite, Phil notes that the signature model is "progressing from a possibility to a probability - but nothing is signed and sealed".
More details of the magazine can be found at www.guitarmagazine.co.uk.
