Putting months of speculation to rest, DavidGilmour.com
yesterday announced that a live DVD is to be released from the current
tour, which is showcasing Pink Floyd classics alongside David's great
new album, "On An Island".
They advise that the cameras will
be in action on the first two nights at London's Royal Albert Hall -
May 29th and 30th - to record the show as it comes to its conclusion
after travelling across Europe and North America. The final night - May
31st - is not scheduled to be filmed.
They also note that "it is
possible that some guests may be added to the bill", recalling the
guest appearances made by Sam Brown (l'Olympia, in Paris), and Crosby
& Nash (Radio City Music Hall, in New York City). However, they are
making no promises or giving any clues!
The director of the recording
will be David Mallet, who has worked with David over the years, most
noticeably on the "In Concert DVD" and Pink Floyd's "PULSE" DVD (which
will be released soon).
We anticipate that the DVD will
be readied in time for release before Christmas, although there is no
official word on dates yet. Rest assured, as soon as we hear anything
definite we'll let you know.
However, if you cannot wait that long to see it...
don't forget we are currently running a competition to win a pair of
tickets to one of the shows that is being filmed! The tickets, for May
29th, are amongst the best seats in the house, having been bought in
the pre-registration period. A fabulous prize, and with not many
correct entries having been received so far, you will be in with a good
chance if you get your entries in quickly - these will be accepted
until midnight GMT on April 23rd, with the winner being picked from all
the qualifying entries on April 24th.
For further details of the competition, click here to go to the competition page. And the best of luck to all of you who are entering!
