The MOJO Honours List 2005 was held on Thursday June 16th at The Porchester Hall, Central London, and amongst the prize winners was old friend of Pink Floyd, Robert Wyatt, who picked up the Mojo Lifetime Achievement Award ("the ultimate accolade that celebrates a unique contribution as we know it").
As a very special surprise, and amidst great secrecy beforehand, the award was given to him by David Gilmour, no doubt taking a break from preparations for the Live 8 concert next month.
Mojo editor-in-chief Phil Alexander said: "This was an amazing night which brought together real musical heroes." The awards aim to honour past and recent stars "whose careers have been responsible for enhancing our rich musical culture".
Punk queen Siouxsie Sioux beat David Bowie and The Ramones to music magazine Mojo's top award, claiming the Icon award in a reader's vote.
Other musicians handing out prizes to their peers during the evening included Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and The Edge (U2).
Full details and pictures will be in the forthcoming issue of the monthly magazine.
