David Gilmour On An Island concert - BBC broadcast Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Sunday, 12 February 2006

We reported last week that David Gilmour's new album, On An Island, which hits the stores on March 6th in the UK and Europe, and March 7th in the US, will be BBC Radio 2's 'Album Of The Week' in its release week. It was officially announced today that they will also be broadcasting (worldwide) a very special concert that David is playing for Radio 2.

The concert will be in London on Tuesday, March 7th, for broadcast at a later date. It will be the full touring band performing the show, and we understand that there will be a mixture of Pink Floyd classics alongside selections from David's new album. The length of the show, and the exact set list, has not yet been announced.

Entry to the show will be by ticket only, issued by the BBC. Full details of how to obtain tickets will be revealed exclusively on Radio 2's Johnnie Walker drivetime show on Monday 20th February, from 5.05pm - 7pm, so make sure you tune in. We believe that only UK residents will be able to apply for the tickets.

BBC Radio 2 can be heard in a number of ways. Those in the UK and Europe can receive the station via FM or DAB radios, via satellite, cable and freeview TV systems. However, listeners worldwide can tune in via the excellent Listen Live/Listen Again facilities at www.BBC.co.uk/radio2.

We also hear that the concert will be syndicated worldwide, and we hope to bring you full details of the local broadcasters by the end of the week.

Our thanks, as ever, to David's management for their help.
