The Daily Telegraph today reports on an event held in the hall of a North London school on Saturday night (January 31st) in aid of charity, which resulted in David Gilmour joining The Seat Of The Pants Band on stage to help out on The Beatles' "Come Together"!
The charity auction and concert were held to help raise money to get a local child with an inoperable brain tumour to America, for an experimental procedure that has shown positive results. With such a good cause, many celebrities were happy to help out, contributing items for the auction or indeed performing as part of the band. The band were made up of local professional musicians, led by Wix Wickens (Paul McCartney's musical director), his wife Margo Buchanan (who performed backing vocals for David in his 2001/2002 shows in London and Paris), along with Madness frontman Suggs.
UPDATE, February 4th: The Tottenham, Wood Green & Edmonton Journal gives a little more detail about the event today. An estimated £50,000 was raised for the child and his family, to help get him the treatment he needs.
