chelsea festival 2008 splashThose who have bought tickets for the Sunday evening Atom Heart Mother concert, being held at London's Cadogan Hall on June 15th, will have an added bonus to what already promises to be a very special event.

We've now had it confirmed by his manager that David Gilmour will be making a guest appearance at the show helmed by his old friend Ron Geesin. He'll be performing on the epic 1970 track, alongside the Italian band Mun Floyd, cellist Caroline Dale (who has worked with David before), the brass ensemble, and the 40-strong chorus Canticum, all of whom will be playing the piece in front of a rapt audience!

The pair of Atom Heart Mother concerts (on Saturday June 14th at 7:30pm, and Sunday June 15th at 7pm) kick off the 2008 Chelsea Festival in style. Ron Geesin, the co-composer of AHM, will recreate Pink Floyd's iconic 1970 album - their first number one album and first Gold record. The performances will also feature archive material from the original recording and other music by Ron, including new scores created specially for the occasion.

Ron has been beavering away in his home studio for the last couple of months, in preparation for the event, and we are sure that his hard work is really going to pay off!

The June 14th show starts at 7:30pm, ending at around 9:45pm, while that on the 15th starts at 7:00pm, ending at approximately 9:15pm. Ticket prices are: £55, £45, £35, and £25, though they are restricted to 2 per customer (4 for Friends of the Chelsea Festival). Tickets for the shows went on sale on March 31st, from the Cadogan Hall itself, and amazingly there are still a few tickets available for each night - click here to order yours.

We suspect though that these remaining seats will sell very quickly once the word gets around about David's appearance, so if you are considering going, don't delay, otherwise you'll have to face the inflated prices of the eBay touts...

Located in Chelsea, Cadogan Hall is fast becoming a very highly rated concert venue. Easy to get to, with good public transport links of all sorts, and providing superb acoustics, it should be the perfect place to enjoy Atom Heart Mother as you've never heard it before...
