Last night saw David Gilmour one-half of an unexpected double act: performing the classic Summertime with supermodel Kate Moss, at London's Cafe de Paris as part of a charity fundraising evening. The event - "Hoping's Got Talent" - was in aid of the Hoping Foundation, and raised over £500,000 during the course of the night. Hoping stands for 'Hope and Optimism for Palestinians In the Next Generation' and they aim to raise money for community projects involving children in Palestinian refugee camps.
Kate was supposed to be judging the karaoke contest that involved a number of Britain's top celebrities, but clearly couldn't resist the opportunity when it came along. A guest bid £47,600 to hear her and David perform together, which was an unscheduled finale to the show.
As the Daily Mail reports, 'Everyone turned to Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour, chanting: "Dave, Dave, Dave!" When he stood up, everyone turned to Kate and started chanted her name. The audience got more than they bargained for when the pair took to the stage - no-one could believe what was happening... Kate really got into it. She dropped to her knees as she belted out the lyrics, and ended up writhing on her back. It was an electrifying performance.'
Despite this, Kate's boyfriend, Jamie Hince, won top prize for his rendition of Dream a Little Dream of Me.
