At midnight it was officially announced that David Gilmour had received the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) award, for his services to music, in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
This was one of a handful of such rewards made to musicians to reward longevity in their industry - his charity work is yet to be officially recognised by the Queen; an OBE or knighthood next year perhaps?
Brain Damage offers our heartiest congratulations to David for this award - well deserved and about time that a "Floyd" was honoured!
