Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour appeared alongside a whole host of top musicians at the London Wembley Arena charity event on September 24th to celebrate the Fender Stratocaster guitar, and we now have more info on the radio, television and DVD versions of the show, for you.
The event, in aid of Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy, included Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones), Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Brian May (Queen), Paul Rodgers, The Shadows' Hank Marvin, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Mike Rutherford (Genesis/Mike & The Mechanics), Paul Carrack (Squeeze/Mike & The Mechanics), The Crickets, Gary Moore, Jamie Cullum and Amy Winehouse.
Here's the details of how you can enjoy the show (again):
Radio broadcast: October 8th, on Capital Gold. This is a 1.5 hour broadcast of the highlights of the show, which based on Capital Gold's listener profile should mean a full repeat of Gilmour's segment, with Winehouse and Cullum being chopped. It will be broadcast from 22:00hrs, and can be heard on AM radio, DAB radio, Sky/NTL/Telewest, or you can listen live via Capital's website.
TV broadcast: It is due to appear on TV at some point, but legal clearance is still being sorted out before details and dates can be announced.
DVD release: This is currently being worked on, and a release is being scheduled before Christmas 2004. The DVD will be released worldwide, and all profits will go to Nordoff-Robbins.
As we get more detail on the TV and DVD release we will let you know.
Many who attended the show were left disappointed when trying to buy one of the event t-shirts, which sold out before the show even started. The organisers underestimated the number of shirts that would sell, and sent along too few. Plans are now afoot, for all those who missed out (including us!) to sell the shirts through the Fender website. We should have more information on this in the next week or so and will let you know as soon as we do. They were nice t-shirts, with David Gilmour given top billing on the rear!
Our thanks to Dan at LD for the info...
