Further to our recent updates on the forthcoming Fender Strat Pack show DVD, including our full review, with screen shots, and our great competition for you to win one of FIVE copies of the DVD, we have an important update on the contents of the DVD.
The show, on September 24th 2004, which featured Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour alongside a whole host of top musicians at the London Wembley Arena, was a charity event. The concert alone raised £175,000 (around US$330,000), and the DVD is expected to swell this figure dramatically, as it is also being sold in aid of the charity. It is now available and selling strongly.
We've heard from a few people in the US and Canada, who have their copies of this DVD. The DTS surround sound option, found on the European version, is missing from the edition being sold in the US/Canada.
However, the DVD makes up for this by having a set of interviews (with The Crickets, Gary Moore, The Shadows, Mike Rutherford, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers, Brian May, Albert Lee, and Andy Fairweather-Low - who has long played with Roger Waters on the road) that don't appear on the European version.
UPDATE: we now understand that the company releasing the DVD in the US made an error on the packaging of the disk. Initial copies state that it contains the DTS soundtrack, and future copies will not show this error. The European copies definitely DO have the DTS soundtrack though, and is the edition that we reviewed.
If you want to place an order for either edition, at a healthy discount, you can do so by selecting either Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Amazon.ca (Canada), Amazon France, or Amazon Germany through our special links.
