Live From Abbey RoadThe website for the forthcoming music performance series from the UK's Channel 4 television, is now live, and has finally given us some concrete details on the appearance of David Gilmour and his band. THIS STORY NOW UPDATED WITH INTERNATIONAL AIRING DETAILS!

"Live From Abbey Road" promises to be one of the best new music programmes from recent years. It will showcase artists at work on live renditions of their songs, within the hallowed walls of London's Abbey Road Studios.

The studios have been the home for many key bands and recordings over the years, not least the likes of The Beatles and Pink Floyd! Most recently, David recorded some parts of On An Island at the building - principally things like the orchestral segments, which were recorded in Studio One (as was David's selections for this show).

David's touring band performed various tracks including On An Island, Take A Breath, Smile, and The Blue, all on August 29th 2006. Expected to air are three tracks, including the aforementioned "Take A Breath".

Indeed, if you go to www.livefromabbeyroad.com you can see a very short (less than a minute) clip from this track, to get a taster for what the full show will bring.

Also at the site, alongside various biographical details of David (and details of the many other artists involved over the whole series), is a slideshow of seven still, black and white images.

David's performances appear in show 8 of 12, which also features Amos Lee, Randy Crawford and Joe Sample.

David Gilmour's appearance airs on Friday, March 2nd at 11pm on the more4 channel; more4+1 repeats the show one hour later (midnight); and Channel 4 air it on Tuesday March 6th at 0:15am.

more4 and more4+1 can be seen in the UK via Freeview, Virgin Media (ex-NTL/Telewest) cable, and Sky satellite services, and Channel 4 can also be received via terrestrial services, and streams their programming via www.channel4.com.
