To coincide with the Christmas holiday at the end of December, and to mark the end of the first year of the new design Brain Damage website, we put together a bumper sack of Pink Floyd goodies to give away. Whilst we thought the prizes (shown to the left, click on the thumbnail) would be popular, we had no idea we'd get quite so many entries!
With DVDs, books, and tour programmes amongst the prizes, there was clearly something of interest
for everyone... but were you one of the lucky winners? Find out here!
Our question for you, to put you in with a chance of winning one of the prizes above, related to the Christmas On Earth Continued concert, which took place 40 years ago on December 22nd, 1967.
Billed as an "All night Christmas dream party", running from 8pm to 8am, it featured a stunning line-up for your £1 (which admittedly would have been quite a price in those days).
Amongst the advertised attractions were the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Eric Burdon & The
Animals, The Who, The Move, The Soft Machine, plus others, alongside the Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd. Wow!
You needed to tell us: in which London venue was the concert held? The answer was the Grand & National Halls of Kensington's Olympia (but we accepted entries which gave just "Olympia" or just "Grand & National Halls").
Here's who won the prizes that were up for grabs:
- David Gilmour's "Remember That Night: Live At The Royal Albert Hall" live 2-disc DVD (PAL format): Cees Kraaijeveld, The Netherlands
- "The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story" 2-disc DVD (NTSC format): Ryan D. Kearns, Ohio, USA
- Mark Blake's "Pigs Might Fly" book: [winner's name withheld], Brazil
- Nicholas Schaffner's "A Saucerful Of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey" book: Dave Carlin, Sheffield, UK
- Patrick Humphries' "Illustrated History Of Pink Floyd" book: Alexander Zheleznov, Moscow, Russia
- Jeff Bench & Daniel O'Brien's "Pink Floyd The Wall: In The Studio, On Stage, And On Screen" book: Robert Simeone, Thames Ditton, UK
- 6 x David Gilmour DVD Premiere programmes and Syd Barrett tribute concert programmes (the winners will get one of each): Timothy Bader, Ohio, USA; Geneviève Le Bas, Plouagat, France; Luis Felipe Pepe, Sao Paolo, Brazil; Steve Harris, Victoria, Australia; Pierre Robitaille, Quebec, Canada; and Marek Grzesiak, Warsaw, Poland
- 2 x Pink Floyd Interstellar exhibition programmes for the opening weekend's film screenings: Patrick Bouchard, Quebec city, Canada, and Jason Day, MO, USA
Well done to all these winners; we're just sad that we didn't have more prizes to give away! Better luck next time to those who weren't fortunate enough to win this time around.
