As a tribute, BBC2 TV in the UK are
showing the 2001 Omnibus documentary "Syd Barrett: Crazy Diamond"
again, on July 27th at 11:20pm BST (GMT+1hr).
Most of you will be familiar with
this, but if you haven't seen it, it is a fascinating, and well
crafted, look at the history of the band with a particular focus on the
very early days of the band.

Interviews with all significant
parties are included; not just the usual suspects, but people such as
Bob Klose, who left the band shortly before their rise to fame. Such is
the love felt for Syd, it is an affectionate, touching and very honest
tribute to the man.
Upon it's original broadcast,
producer/director John Edginton (who kindly told us about this repeat
showing), revealed that Barrett had seen the documentary, and Syd had
told his sister: "There was a programme about me on TV last night," to
which Rose said, "Oh right, really?". He said, "It was pretty good
actually, I enjoyed it." He particularly enjoyed seeing Mike Leonard,
his old landlord, again, he loved hearing the song "See Emily Play"
again, and Rose said the documentary had given him a real boost, a lift.
BBC2 can be seen via terrestrial and all cable/satellite platforms in the UK and various countries in northern Europe.
The documentary on a double disc DVD can be ordered, with a discount, through the following special links: Amazon UK/Europe, France, or Germany.
Alternatively, you can order from Amazon US/International, or Canada, the single-disc NTSC edition from 2004.
BBC2 TV is also showing the
"Three Men In A Boat" two hour long two-parter again. Many of you will
recall that the first part, which is being shown on August 2nd at 9pm,
shows the main protagonists in the show happening upon David Gilmour's
Astoria houseboat studio. Upon tying up their boat, they take a tour
around the boat, and David gives them a taster of work-in-progress on
the then unreleased "On An Island" album.
David only appears in the first part of this production.
