Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Atom Heart Mother performance in Paris next month Print E-mail

Ron GeesinPink Floyd's 1970 epic, Atom Heart Mother, composed in conjunction with our friend Ron Geesin (check out our three-part exclusive interview with Ron from 2008), is to be performed in Paris, France, next month. We caught up with Ron who told us:

"The French National Education Authority ["le Ministère français de l'Education nationale"] decided some time earlier this year that AHM should be studied (in company with Bach and Varèse!) for the Baccalauréat in 2012 – that’s the equivalent of UK 'A' Levels. The students will not study the score visually (partly because of involved copyright negotiations) but aurally. A 64pp book has already been written by Philippe Gonin to accompany the study: I provided him with a good deal of information from my side. To launch the focus on Atom Heart Mother, there will be a live concert at the Théatre du Châtelet, Paris, on the 12th January. The musicians and choir will be from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Pink Floyd part will be played by musicians under the direction of the conducter, Jean-Jacques Justafré. I will provide the necessary piano and voice parts. This concert will be broadcast by Radio France.

"As I have said to Paul Loasby, Pink Floyd's manager, "The fact is that, despite the individuals' misgivings about the outcome of this awkward amalgam of them an' me, it has caught on and should be allowed to run its course. The full story should be clearly projected."

"Separately from all this, I have been asked by a UK publisher to write my side of the Atom Heart Mother story. I'm thinking about it!"
