The new issue of Record Collector magazine includes an article concerning some great early promo singles from Hervé Denoyelle's extensive collection. Hervé contacted us a few months ago to tell us he was assisting Joe Geesin (son of Ron!) in the preparation of the piece. In the event, it focused on just three releases, and in particular, a previously undocumented white label promo...
The single, on the French Columbia label, of Arnold Layne/Candy And A Current Bun/Interstellar Overdrive (a unique version only found on the French release) was issued in the late sixties, and features a custom record company sleeve.
There is a rubber stamp on the label, showing it was pressed for internal use only - checks made with official sources confirm that this was the case, and that only ten copies were pressed up! Record Collector believe that, should the item ever be put on sale, it would sell for at least GB£2000... Our thanks to John Johnstone for the head's up on this article.
