Former Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Jack Irons will include his version of Pink Floyd's classic "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" on his next album. The 11-song album, "Attention Dimension," will be released in August. "Shine On" features vocals by Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), and bass by Les Claypool (Primus, Col. Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade).

Irons was a founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and has drummed with many other bands and performers, including Pearl Jam and Neil Young. He is a surfing buddy of Eddie Vedder, and his first tattoo was of a whale and dolphin, due to his love of the ocean. He left the Chili Peppers after Hillel Slovak's death - Jack was afraid of losing more friends, and didn't want to play any more. A phone call from The Clash, asking him to play with them, rekindled his love of music and performing.

In 2001, Claypool, who plays bass on the version of "Shine On" included a version of the song, on his "Live Frogs-Set 1" album. (The track is labelled the "Jack Irons Version," without explanation.) "Set 2" released later that year was a re-recording of Floyd's 1977 "Animals" album.
