Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

tim renwickBorn and raised in Cambridge, Tim Renwick is a name familiar to most of you. He is an old friend of David Gilmour, and he was a key part of Pink Floyd's touring band from 1987 onwards. He played with the band at the Live8 concert in Hyde Park in 2005. He also played with Roger Waters on his Pros and Cons tour of 1984.

Sadly, he has just been in contact with the Sound On Sound music recording magazine's website to report the theft of his own guitars from his studio, and in case any Brain Damage visitors can help, we've included the information here about what has gone missing...

The guitars that have been taken are Fender Strats and various acoustics:

Fender Stratocaster solid body electric guitars:

  1. Sea foam green (turquoise) pearlised scratchplate - custom guitar built by Brinsley Schwartz for Chandler Guitars. Japanese wood/US electrics Seymour Duncan 'Alnico 2' pickups Serial No:U035585.
  2. Cream 'Elite' model (no tremolo) '85 EMG pickups Serial No:E3300719. (Headstock with erased letters - reading 'ratocaster') as used on LiveAid 85 with Eric Clapton Band.
  3. Metallic silver - Custom shop Vintage Series - Serial No: V045489. Lace Sensor p/ups & coloured headstock. As used on Pink Floyd 'Pulse' albums.

PLUS a small USA Gibson amplifier (1949) cream with pink perspex front.

Acoustic guitars:

  1. Martin 000C16RGTE serial no: 1140783 this has a built-in 'Aura' pickup system and a rounded cutaway. Instrument only bought last year, so in very good condition, in black Martin case with gold (coloured) metalwork.
  2. Martin M38 '75 (Tim thinks) Serial no: 398602 Beautiful guitar given to Tim by The Bee Gees in thanks for recording and touring with their younger brother Andy Gibb.

All guitars were in appropriate original cases.

If any member of the public, or any guitar dealer, encounters the instruments or has any information as to their whereabouts, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Our thanks to Barkley Mckay for alerting us to this.
