This week, legendary film director Adrian Maben visits a film festival in Italy to receive a career award.
Adrian has had a long, productive career. Within the Floyd community,
he is best known for Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii, in its original cinema
released format, and the two subsequent expanded versions, and for the
DVD which accompanied the double CD set of Roger Waters' opera, Ca Ira.
As
we mentioned before, Adrian filmed the birth and creation of this opera
with Roger, for over fifteen years. With well over 300 tapes to go
through, Adrian certainly had his work cut out editing this down to the
resulting documentary.
His work isn't done with the project though - we spoke with him on
Friday night, and he revealed that he is working with the tapes from
the recent Poznan performance of Ca Ira. As we get more information on
what results from this, we will let you know.
This weekend, however, Adrian's mind will be on the 25th Festival
del Film d'Arte e Biografie d'Artista, being held in Asolo, Italy. It
is there that he is being awarded the "Flavia Paulon" career award, at
an event that he tells us that he is looking forward to. He did
jokingly acknowledge that this sort of award is normally given "when
they think your career is over"!
To preceed the award ceremony will be a special screening of the
"Making Of Ca Ira" as seen on the DVD. Reports elsewhere that this will
be a new, expanded or alternate edit of this are incorrect. The
screening takes place at 11:30am, on Sunday, October 8th.
Our congratulations to Adrian for the recognition of his long career. For more information on the event, go to www.asolofilmfestival.it.
