Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also three Record Store Day releases to come on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online afterwards.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

'a Ira Moed' - Roger's opera in Holland Print E-mail

Ca Ira MoedSince our last story about the second staging of Roger Waters' opera 'Ça Ira' in Holland, plans have moved apace as the concert gets nearer. Some of you will recall that in 2008, there was a special performance of Ça Ira with Roger's full blessing. The event took place on Dutch Liberation Day, and was a very special, full-scale staging of the opera in the largest concert hall in Holland, with all proceeds from the event going to the War Child charity.

Ca Ira MoedWith the tragic and brutal death last year of the 14-year-old son of André Post, one of the soloists in "Ça Ira for Warchild", the organiser of the original show, Joke Tuinema, decided to bring Ça Ira back to the stage again. This time not for the benefit of War Child, but for the 'Moed' campaign [see www.moed.nl]. Moed means "courage", and the campaign takes a stand against senseless violence against others.

The Dutch press has recently been full of articles and interviews regarding the show - not least as it has been announced that Queen Beatrix, head of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will be attending the concert! An example article is shown to the right (click the thumbnail to see it in more detail; written in Dutch).

Tickets are naturally selling well for the show, which takes place on November 17th, 2010, at the Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. You can get tickets direct from the venue as well as other normal outlets.

Many more details of the Foundation Ça Ira Moed, and the concert, are on www.CaIraMoed.nl.
