In our exclusive first review of Pink Floyd's The Division Bell 20th anniversary 5.1 surround mix blu-ray we mentioned that for those who cannot play blu-ray discs, or alternatively are simply after the 5.1 mix without the other items within the box set, a separate DVD was to be released.

This happened last June, with the DVD available to be ordered exclusively through the Pink Floyd Store. Demand was extremely high for these DVDs, and they sold out almost instantly. The good news for those of you who missed out is that a final, limited run of pressings has been done and the DVDs are now available to order from the same place.

As expected, the DVD did not have sufficient space to include the high definition, 24bit audio found on the blu-ray. However, it does give some sonic options for you. The album is included as an audio-only PCM stereo mix (48 khz) mastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Doug Sax. There's also the 5.1 audio mix, previously unreleased, mixed and mastered by Andy Jackson and Damon Iddins - this is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1. Finally, the 2014 film for Marooned, directed by Aubrey "Po" Powell, is on the DVD, with a PCM stereo, or Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 surround mix.

To reiterate, this disc will not be available in stores, and is just from the the Floyd Store but on the basis of how quickly they sold last time, don't hang around if you want to secure your copy of this. On the 5th of March, Brit Floyd kicked off its North American tour – the band's most extensive yet. Brain Damage was on hand at its recent Poughkeepsie, New York show:

'Pink Floyd tribute band' can evoke thoughts of a 'poor man's Pink Floyd'.

Of something that comes close but doesn't quite hit the spot.

Or of something so compelling it begs the question: is the concept of 'Pink Floyd tribute band' somehow transcending the second-fiddle status typically reserved for such acts or is this transcendence and elevated domain being conquered by a specific group or two in that pool?

Since the ascent of The Australian Pink Floyd Show in the 1990s a rash of Pink Floyd tribute bands has germinated, potentially diluting audiences' ability to discern uncanny tribute from glorified garage cover stunt. And while many do quite well, both in performance and commercially, few have been able to match the heights of Aussie Floyd.

Enter Brit Floyd.

Brit Floyd has been commanding a similar, competing, and growing presence in the Pink Floyd tribute band arena since it formed in 2010, quickly reaching the heights of Aussie Floyd in all tangible measures.

For those unfamiliar with the detailed history of the two bands, their shared roots are at the nexus of this palpable competition – a (healthy) rivalry that is giving Pink Floyd fans an opportunity to see the original's work performed in impeccable form more frequently and accessibly than ever before.

A number of years ago, the film Stamping Ground was subject to release on DVD, being released on the South American market and subsequently - and still - available from various online retailers, including most, if not all, of Amazon's stores. There is also a much more recent edition, which seems to originate from Italy, again common in a number of online stores.

The film, consisting of early concert footage which includes Pink Floyd, Santana and Soft Machine amongst others, has NOT been officially released or sanctioned, and none of the artists involved have provided clearance for its release - or been paid any royalties from the release.

Should the film ever get an official release we will let you know. In the meantime, please be aware that any example of it you see offered will be unofficial/counterfeit, and should be avoided.

Two years ago, the regular StormStudios newsletter referred to the documentary that Storm had been working on (which I had the pleasure to be included as one of Storm's interviewees). Providing some background to the project, they noted then that: "Since the end of 2011 Storm had been very busy filming a documentary with Rupert [Truman] about Pink Floyd's founder member, Syd Barrett. They filmed many interviews including old school friends, flat mates, girlfriends, fellow musicians and all the surviving members of Pink Floyd. So far it's proved a very enlightening experience..."

After Storm's sad passing, the reigns were passed to film maker Roddy Bogawa, following his work on the excellent documentary about Storm (Taken by Storm), which we've talked about elsewhere and is due for a release this autumn.

Over the weekend, some websites posted stories about the documentary, following a piece on the Mojo magazine website. However, before you get too carried away with what has been stated in various places, we've had some clarification from Roddy over the story. "Now the cat is out of the bag, we'd like to clarify a few things - Mojo got a few things wrong - the correct title is 'Have You Got It Yet?' and the film is not being released this summer. We are shooting the last bits and entering the editing stage."

We'll obviously keep you posted on all the confirmed, accurate information on this hotly anticipated documentary, which promises to be a fascinating look at Barrett, but is some way off completion.
