In an upcoming Rolling Stone interview, Roger Waters reveals plans for a new project, and also mentions Heartland, the album he had been working on for a while.
RS note that he's been writing rock songs and a script for an as-yet-untitled 'radio play', and excerpts from the work could make up a new album, and be adapted into an arena show. "I can see it in my mind's eye," he told them.
The drama will revolve around two characters, generations apart, who live in Belfast, Northern Ireland - a grandfather, who is babysitting a child, and complaining about a war on the TV news. The child has a nightmare about children being killed in a conflict, and as Roger notes: "The grandfather promises the child to find out what's happening, and he gets him to go back to sleep, reads a bit of Winnie the Pooh, which I always do on my records. And the rest of the record is the grandfather and the kid going on a magic carpet ride to see if they can find an answer to that question: 'Why are they killing the children?'"
Demos of the proposed songs have been recorded in LA a few weeks ago with Nigel Godrich, who mixed the music for the Roger Waters The Wall movie, and is best known for his work with Radiohead. Some of Heartland may be integrated into the new work, and he is considering a big tour to support it. "I'd like to do one more if I can," he says. "I think I've got one more in me."

A new interview with Roger Waters, conducted by BBC World Service presenter Tom Hagler for their Newsday programme, proves an interesting listen. The interview covers his film of The Wall, which is being screened at selected cinemas worldwide at the end of this month, as well as the surprise felt by some at his appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in July, and he also touches on his new material. When asked for a timescale he jokingly hints at six months!

Well, the moment is almost here - tomorrow sees the start of David Gilmour's 2015 Live tour, coinciding with the release of his new album Rattle That Lock which is due in one week's time, worldwide.
Whilst in effect the tour started with last Saturday's concert in Brighton, England, that was officially a Preview Show. The Pula Arena in the Croatian city of the same name is the setting for the first 'proper' concert of the tour. Over the last few days, the inside of the Arena has been getting itself ready for the arrival of fans from around the globe, all eager to experience what should be a superb show, based on the experience of those of us lucky enough to get a sneak preview at the Brighton Centre.
Currently the weather there is lovely, which is a relief as the concert is an outdoor one; the stage has been constructed within the ancient walls, and with the Arena a very open and public place, intrigued locals - and early-arriving concertgoers alike - have been able to watch construction of the stage and setting up of the seating areas. This picture kindly sent in by BD regular Branimir Kucar shows construction of the stage once it got to a fairly complete level, prior to the equipment and elements such as Mr Screen arriving in Pula.
If you are going to Pula - or indeed, any of the shows on the tour - we'd love to hear from you with your thoughts on the show. The address to email us is the normal one -

Popular North American syndicated rock radio program and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands revisits the post-Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd on the 40th anniversary of Wish You Were Here this weekend, with guests David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and archive comments from the late keyboard player Richard Wright.
"You try following up Dark Side of the Moon. Go on, just try it!", admonishes David Gilmour in the show. "We've been trying to do it ever since!", laughs drummer Nick Mason. Not just the confessed favourite Floyd album of all that Gilmour and Mason did, the album came from a period of fracture and a degree of strife was starting to show within the band. Roger Waters notes that during the making of Wish You Were Here, "Already the rot had set in...".
As Nick Mason said to Redbeard in his interview for the show, "Once you've had the big hit album everything should roll off a little easier and in fact like so many things...it's just as difficult to make the next album as the one before."
You can hear the interview part of the show through this link, and to hear the entire show with music, visit www.inthestudio.net/radio-stations to find locally participating radio stations, and from there you can check local listings for exact broadcast dates and times.

After determining production requirements for David Gilmour's 2016 North American Tour, which normally means the stage/lighting/speaker layout has been finalised for the venues involved, there will be extra seats released for both Hollywood Bowl concerts, which are due to take place on March 24th and March 25th 2016, and kick off the 2016 tour.
These concerts are both currently sold out, so this will be good news for those who missed out when they originally went on sale.
The extra tickets across both dates will be available for sale tomorrow, Saturday 12th September, at 10.00am local time. Ticket buyers will be among the first to receive the new album, as every ticket purchased online will include a redemption for a Rattle That Lock CD.
To purchase tickets for March 24th click here, and if you are after tickets for March 25th click here.
