With just a month to go (yesterday) until the screenings across the world of Roger Waters The Wall, we have information for you of all the countries where you will be able to see the film on September 29th, as well as a very special opportunity in the latest Brain Damage competition! As a reminder, the film itself is followed by The Simple Facts, a conversation between Roger and Nick Mason, answering questions submitted by fans from around the world.
The image here shows all the countries currently scheduled to participate in screening the film, with a note that coming soon, four other major countries will be also joining in the fun next month - Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
If you've yet to book your tickets for this, ensure you visit RogerWatersTheWall.com. However, if you are in or around the New York area, you might want to try your luck in our latest competition, to win a place for you and a friend to attend an exclusive screening of the film...
Here are (to borrow a phrase) The Simple Facts of what's on offer:
- Three lucky winners will each be able to bring a friend along to the event
- It is a private and intimate screening of 'Roger Waters The Wall' at a secret, undisclosed location in Midtown Manhattan on September 14th at 5pm, so a condition of entry is that you MUST be able to attend the location at that time and date
- On that note, travel and accommodations are not provided - these will be your responsibility
- The movie will be presented in Dolby Atmos surround sound, the format in which Nigel Godrich mixed the sound in
- The organisers ask that you arrive a bit early if possible
- With your entry, please state your guest's name too, as the organisers will require BOTH names to permit entry to the venue
To win a pair of seats at this exclusive event, all you need to do is answer this question correctly:
- Name all the members of the band who played guitar during a typical show on Roger's 2010-2013 Wall tour
Email your answers to
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
with the subject line of "The Wall NYC competition", and include your name, home address, and if you are a winner, your guest's name too. The closing date is September 5th, 2015, and all entries received by the end of that date will be in with a chance of winning. Just one entry per household please - and best of luck to you all!
Remember, you must be able to be in Manhattan around late afternoon on September 14th! Good luck, and however you see Roger Waters The Wall, we hope you enjoy it.

The new issue of the UK's Mojo Magazine, cover date October 2015/issue 263, is published this coming Tuesday, August 25th, and should prove irresistible to David Gilmour fans.
Not content with what the magazine are referring to as "a major new interview with Gilmour", and based on past articles in Mojo it should be an in-depth discussion covering much ground, the cover-mounted CD should make for very interesting listening. The magazine explained that around two year's ago, "Gilmour very kindly sent Mojo a cover version of The Beatles' Here, There And Everywhere. We enjoyed his reworking of the Fab Four so much that we wanted to share it and after a spot of cajoling he's finally agreed to let us include it on free CD that comes with the new edition of Mojo".
"I really wish I had been in The Beatles," Gilmour told the magazine. "[They] taught me how to play guitar, I learnt everything. The bass parts, the lead, the rhythm, everything. They were fantastic."
The cover of Here, There And Everywhere was recorded with his son Joe, and is previously unreleased anywhere. It's a key track on David Gilmour & Friends, sitting alongside their collection of music designed to celebrate Gilmour's life, work and influence. They note that "a number of Gilmour's closest collaborators appear on our bespoke compilation while the guitarist is featured on six of the tracks himself, including songs from Phil Manzanera, Robert Wyatt and The Pretty Things."
The magazine will be available from Tuesday next week in all good UK stores, and subsequently elsewhere in the world in a number of outlets as an import. Alternatively, single issues can be ordered direct through GreatMagazines.co.uk.

Exceptional demand for the North American concerts on David Gilmour's 2016 tour, coupled with a personal desire by him to play small, interesting venues, has resulted in a third and final show being sandwiched between the two shows at the United Center in Chicago. This newly announced show, taking place on April 6th, 2016, is being staged at Auditorium Theatre.
This particular venue - full name, the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University - is small, seating just under 4,000 people, and looks stunning, as you'll see from the picture to the right. The venue was completed in 1889 and looks to retain many of the original features. According to David's official Facebook page, he was keen to play a theatre, and fondly remembered this particular venue from touring with the Floyd in the early 1970s.
Tickets go on sale Friday, August 21st at 10am CDT, through Ticketmaster.com although please be aware that demand will be incredibly high for this small venue, so you might need to be patient and keep retrying. From experience of other North American shows, you might also want to try calling Ticketmaster on the phone as there seems to be a separate allocation for telephone orders, and some people had much better luck via this route for shows which went on sale earlier.
As before, as an additional incentive, purchasers of tickets online who are resident in North America will be emailed a code, redeemable on the CD of David's new album, Rattle That Lock. This is subject to terms and conditions, which should be available to you from the ticketing website.

The new issue of the UK's Classic Rock magazine - published this week, issue 214, cover date September 2015 - is a real Pink Floyd feast. The magazine serves up a 32-page special on the Floyd within its page, which is designed to look at the band's 50th anniversary, and so Classic Rock "celebrates the dark and light sides of a monumental career".
The coverage gradually works through the band's history - from The First Gig, The First Producer and so on through to recent days, with the very sad passing of Syd and Richard. There are some wonderful pictures - including a set from Libby January - and a great selection of shots from over the years taken by Jill Furmanovsky, most previously unseen, including a lovely shot of Roger and David during the Live 8 rehearsals.
Talking of which, there's a really nice piece with the main protagonists in the Live 8 story, giving their memories of how events unfolded.
Of principal interest though is a new, six-page interview with David Gilmour. Excerpts of this interview have been picked up by various parts of the international press, all seizing on the one thing that will come of absolutely no surprise to even casual Floyd fans - David's comments that Pink Floyd as a working band are no more. Far more interesting are his recollections of his years in the band - and you find out which Floyd memory makes him cringe! He also talks about his new album in detail, and also what he thinks of the world of music in general these days.
The magazine is now available from all good UK stores, and will be in selected outlets worldwide in due course as an import. Alternatively, you can buy individual issues (again, worldwide) from their official store.

The new, surround sound remix of Amused to Death has been stunning numerous parts of the Floyd community since its release on July 24th. Our exclusive interview with producer and engineer James Guthrie, discussing the background to this new edition of Amused To Death has given many a deeper understanding of the album and the process behind creating a new surround sound mix and remaster.
This week, Amused to Death is number 1 on the Billboard Catalog Album chart in America. This chart tracks sales of albums that are more than 18 months old, and The Dark Side of the Moon has topped this
chart on multiple occasions, but this is possibly the first time that Roger has reached the top spot on any Billboard
chart. Our thanks to Rob Farrish for this info. Last week, Roger was number one on the Dutch album charts. In the UK, Roger made the top 10 with the release, although the UK charts split the releases into the different formats rather than have an overall sales figure.
To add to the excitement of this release, we had a very special prize to give away to one lucky Brain Damage visitor - a copy of the limited picture disc edition, personally signed by none other than Roger himself! Adding to the rarity value, this particular example DOESN'T feature a stamped number. You can see the prize itself at the top of this article.
We have had almost a thousand entries, many of which were correct. We didn't want to keep you all in suspense any longer, and have been getting one or two emails asking if the winner had been drawn. We worked our way through the entries, to sort out those which had incorrect answers, and enlisted an independent person to draw the winner. So, Peter Robertson, from the Rutland region of the UK, watch out for your postal delivery person next week...!
Congratulations Peter, and our commiserations to all of you who weren't lucky this time around. We just wish we had more than one to give away, but thanks for participating, and please watch out for our next competition, where we have three copies of a Floyd book to give away!
For those curious as to the answers, the bass players on the album, other than Roger, were: Randy Jackson (tracks 2 and 9), James Johnson (all tracks except 1, 2, 5, 9 and 11), John Pierce (track 5), John Patitucci (track 11), Guo Yi & the Peking Brothers (track 11). Also, Flea recorded some bass but this wasn't used on the final album!
