Six years ago, Roger Waters recorded a song for the Fundación Alas,
a foundation to help improve health and education for children in Latin America. Two years ago, Roger, who was in Buenos Aires performing a record breaking set of nine Wall concerts at the Estadio River Plate, chose the city to film the promo video for the song, which is called "The Child
Will Fly".
Working with the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and with the support of the Spanish International Cooperation Agency, Alas made a contribution of $2 million for 22 early childhood centers serving more than 2,000 children in neighborhoods with high poverty levels.
The theme song was intended to help raise awareness about the importance of early education as a tool for children, with financial and cultural projects hopefully opening a world of greater possibilities. The track features the collaboration with Roger of different international and Latin artists such as Shakira, Eric Clapton, Pedro Aznar and Gustavo Cerati, who have worked actively with Alas.
The video features the artistic supervision of Roger Waters and was directed by Argentine Diego Kaplan and has just become available online - as you can see below. If you want to have a quick look behind the scenes of the shoot, you can do so through this link [link removed]. Our thanks to Nico Ibanez, Martin Geyer, Stevie Hunter and Claudio David Knaup for letting us know about the availability of this new footage!
UPDATE: both videos have now been removed from Youtube due to copyright claims. Seems they shouldn't have been posted on the video sharing service by the various parties that did this.

Further to our news a week ago about Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell 20th Anniversary boxset and vinyl we have a small update on pricing on the boxset and clarification over the vinyl edition. At the time of the initial announcement it wasn’t clear that the 2-LP vinyl was going to be available as a separate entity. The good news for all you vinyl junkies is that it WILL be available on its own.
The 180g 2-LP vinyl edition, remastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab from the original analogue tapes, presents on vinyl for the first time all the full length tracks. The original LP featured edited versions in order to fit onto just two sides of vinyl. Here’s how the tracks are presented:
- Disc 1/Side 1:
- Cluster One
- What Do You Want From Me
- Poles Apart
- Disc 1/Side 2:
- Marooned
- A Great Day For Freedom
- Wearing The Inside Out
- Disc 2/Side 3:
- Take It Back
- Coming Back To Life
- Keep Talking
- Disc 2/Side 4:
- Lost For Words
- High Hopes
The deluxe boxset itself, which includes the double vinyl, the album on CD, replica singles, prints, and the 5.1 surround mix on Blu-ray, is now available to order from all Amazon stores, and the overly high price in the UK store now seems to be starting to come down to a level more equitable with other Amazon stores. For those who have already ordered it, fear not - you will automatically pay the lowest amount Amazon have listed it for between the time you ordered it, and the date of release. Another thing worth doing is checking the current pricing at an Amazon store you might not normally use. Most ship items worldwide and you could make decent savings by using an alternate Amazon - and your account details should still work just as well.
You can now order it from:
All orders placed with Amazon after entering their sites using our links, gives a small but vital contribution towards site running costs at no extra cost to yourself, and we really appreciate it.

Nick Cave and Roger Waters are amongst those who've written music for Marianne Faithfull's new album.
'Give My Love to London' will be released in September 2014 and features lyrics by Faithfull and music from a host of guest artists, also including Pat Leonard, Tom McRae and Steve Earle. Roger will not be performing on the album. To coincide with the release, Faithfull will start a year long world tour this autumn.
This is not Marianne's first cover of a Roger Waters-penned song. Her 1999 album Vagabond Ways included the track Incarceration of a Flower Child, which was written by Waters in 1968, and never recorded by Pink Floyd. The lyrics seem to relate to Syd Barrett, but Waters has never confirmed this.

Now finally revealed, and marking the 20th anniversary of its release, Pink Floyd's final album The Division Bell is the subject of a deluxe box set arriving on June 30th, 2014. Chock-full of goodies, it features six discs, including three replica coloured or clear vinyl discs, 5 collectors' prints, a Blu-ray disc and for the first time Andy Jackson's 5.1 audio mix of the album. We detail the contents below.
The Division Bell debuted at No 1 in the UK and in the USA and, to date, has reached total album sales of over 12 million. The album was recorded by the band at Astoria and Britannia Row Studios. David Gilmour: "The three of us went into Britannia Row studios, and improvised for 2 weeks. Playing together and starting from scratch was interesting and exciting, it kick started the album and the process was very good, it was collaborative and felt more cohesive".
The Division Bell 20th Anniversary collector's box set will feature the new, much-anticipated 2-LP vinyl edition of the album, remastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab from the original analogue tapes, including all the full length tracks (originally edited to fit on a single LP) in a gatefold sleeve designed by Hipgnosis/StormStudios. Five other discs are included: a red 7" vinyl replica of single Take It Back, clear 7" vinyl replica of High Hopes, 12" blue vinyl replica of High Hopes with reverse laser etched design, the 2011 Discovery remaster of The Division Bell and a Blu-ray disc including the album in HD Audio, plus the previously unreleased 5.1 surround sound version mixed and mastered by Andy Jackson and Damon Iddins.
