Just published is the latest issue (number 24 - cover date September 2014) of the Pink Floyd fanzine "Heyou" run by our friends over at the Italian website of the same name.
The 52-page dual language magazine (in Italian and English), which is
published every six months or so, catches up with things in the Floyd world this year, but with a packed issue, its normal news coverage takes a bit of a break in favour of larger features.
As hinted at by the front cover, the magazine includes major coverage of 'The Nights of Wonder', an exhibition that runs until October 26th relating to the 1989 Venice concert. Some 42 pages are devoted to it, with a large number of unseen pictures from the event, fascinating recollections of those who were there, and an interview with Fran Tomasi, promoter of the concert itself.
Elsewhere in its pages, there's more relating to Tomasi, with coverage of the now postponed official exhibition, Their Mortal Remains. There's also mention of The Endless River, the new album from Pink Floyd which comes out next month.
More details of the Heyou fanzine can be found at www.heyou.it/fsubscrbd.htm, where you can get individual copies, and subscription enquiries (four
issues costing 30 euros within Europe, and 40 euros outside Europe)

Tomorrow morning, during the UK's BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, hosted by Chris Evans, there will be an exclusive world premiere of a track from Pink Floyd's upcoming album, The Endless River, it has been confirmed today. It will be the first time that most of us will hear a piece of music from the album in its entirety, as up to now, we've had to content ourselves with the three, 30 second pieces unveiled on the band's official Facebook page as well as their website. There's also a 10 second clip on the band's website.
As yet, there's been no confirmation as to what track is being played, although we would suspect that the sole non-instrumental on the album, Louder Than Words, would be a logical choice for a morning radio show. It is also not confirmed when the track will air - initial reports, following their tweet about the exclusive, suggested it would be 8:15am, but the show runs from 6:30am-9:30am so might be at any point during the broadcast.
UPDATE: We've just heard that in the US, radio station Q104.3FM will similarly be airing a track - again, which one is not specified - at 10am EST tomorrow (Thursday). We've also heard from Steve in New Zealand - The Sound in NZ are airing Louder Than Words (we were right over the choice of track!) in their breakfast show, between 6am-9am NZ time.
For those who missed the broadcast, it was indeed Louder Than Words that was aired. We hope that all of you who have heard the song share your views on it over at our Facebook page! As the first proper taste of the album itself, did you enjoy it?
Advance orders for the album in its various forms seem strong, and should you be keen on adding it to your collection on release, it might be worth getting your pre-order in now. Amazon offer their pre-order price guarantee, so if their price drops between when your order is placed, and released, you automatically pay the lowest price. Ordering through our Amazon links also gives a small but vital contribution toward the running costs of this site, and it is really appreciated! You can place your orders through these links:
For those who prefer their music digitally, you can now order the deluxe edition of Pink Floyd's The Endless River (or individual tracks) through iTunes.

Best known amongst Pink Floyd fans for his work on Atom Heart Mother and Music From The Body, composer and musician Ron Geesin sees the latest of his projects come to life in public on Saturday (October 4th). Not so much Music From The Body, but Music From The Blackbird, the project can be experienced throughout this and next month, running until 30th November.
Blackbird Quadralogue celebrates the "astonishing vocal repertoire and intricate jazz-infused riffs of the blackbird, one of the UK's most familiar songbirds...in a new octophonic sound composition that combines the artist Ron Geesin's long-term fascination with birdsong and his fundamental interest in jazz." The octophonic presentation uses eight speakers to provide a dynamic sensory experience.
Sparked by hearing what he believed to be call and answer patterns between birds, Geesin initially made field recordings which demonstrated an abundance of varying pitch and rhythm in the calls between birds. This led to further recordings of a vast range of songs produced by four male blackbirds over two years. Blackbird Quadralogue draws together the calls of these four birds as they move through the seasons.
Presented in Gallery 2 of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill On Sea, admission is free. More information on the project, and the venue, at dlwp.com.

Atom Heart Mother and The Dark Side of the Moon engineer Alan Parsons was honoured at this year's Temecula Valley International Film Festival in Temecula, California, for his work with Pink Floyd amongst other things. Parsons was given a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' "for significant contributions to music as record producer and performing artist". Parsons' recognition was presented by another performing artist with a Pink Floyd background: saxophonist and guitarist Scott Page.
Hosted between September 17th and 21st, the event featured two consecutive nights of live music, headlined on the second night by Scott Page's band, Hang Dynasty. The band has always consisted of a rotating roster of accomplished and well-known musicians but has boasted Page as a regular member. They were the 'Monday night house band during The China Club's heyday in Hollywood' but have, for the most part since, played one-off gigs with guests ranging from Edgar Winter to Jon Anderson.
The Temecula gig included Kenny Lee Lewis (Steve Miller Band), Diane Feinberg-Lewis, Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Cinderella, Chickenfoot), Reggie McBride (Stevie Wonder, Glenn Frey, Elton John), and Randy Scott (winner of Guitar Center's 'King of Blues' Award).

Roger Waters last night was forced to post a note on his Facebook page to provide some clarification over Pink Floyd's forthcoming album, The Endless River, which - bizarrely - he sees to be linked to.
This is how the post started:
"Dear Friends
Some people have been asking Laurie, my wife, about a new album I have coming out in November. Errhh? I don't have an album coming out, they are probably confused. David Gilmour and Nick Mason have an album coming out. It's called Endless River. David and Nick constitute the group Pink Floyd. I on the other hand, am not part of Pink Floyd. I left Pink Floyd in 1985, that's 29 years ago. I had nothing to do with either of the Pink Floyd studio albums, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell, nor the Pink Floyd tours of 1987 and 1994, and I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip."
The rest of the post talks about the Russell Tribunal event that Roger took part in last week, which we covered earlier in our News section (including his performance of the new song, Lay Down Jerusalem).
