Snowy White's iconic 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop is an instrument that should find plenty of interest, when it is auctioned in February 2015.
This iconic guitar was acquired by Snowy in 1969 and has featured on almost every recording and performance since then, including the Pink Floyd Animals tour 1977, the Wall shows in 1980/81, Thin Lizzy 1980-82, the hit song 'Bird of Paradise' in 1984, Roger Waters' Berlin Wall show 1990, all the Roger Waters tours 1999-2013, and much more besides, including all Snowy's recording sessions for all his solo albums, and sessions for others, including the 'In The Skies' recording session with Peter Green. The current bridge on the guitar was given to Snowy by Peter in the seventies.
Snowy has owned this guitar for nearly 45 years, and for over 30 of those years it was his only instrument, played almost every day. As a working instrument, this guitar has had a certain amount of repair and change, including rewiring, refretting and new tuning heads. Most of the original parts have been kept.
This guitar is offered 'as seen', with no apologies from Snowy as to its current condition.
This guitar will be offered at auction in Beverley Hills, California, on the 28th February 2015 by Heritage Auctions (HA.com) and here's Snowy talking about the guitar - and why he is getting rid of it:
UPDATE: BD reader Cal Kendall checked out the result of the sale, to determine the final price of the instrument in the auction. Cal discovered that it sold to some very lucky person for $93,750 (US).

Back in September, we told you that Roger Waters would be participating in the US premiere of his opera Ca Ira, at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center. There were going to be two performances, with Roger narrating both, on January 29th and 30th, 2015, however, the performance on the 29th has now been cancelled.
The piece is scored for full orchestra, four solo voices, chorus and a
children's chorus. The Tennessean newspaper state that the Nashville
Symphony, Nashville Symphony Chorus and Blair Children’s Chorus will
perform onstage with Waters. We understand that this will be a
resumption of his narration role he performed on its last performance,
in Gothenburg, Sweden, last year.
"We are thrilled and honored to have a legendary talent like Roger
Waters at the Schermerhorn to debut this phenomenal production for an
American audience," Alan Valentine, Nashville Symphony president and
CEO, said in a news release. "We embrace any opportunity to expand our
artistic mission with adventurous, ground-breaking projects, and 'Ca
Ira' promises to be two nights of entertainment that Middle Tennesseans
will never forget."
Tickets are now on sale at NashvilleSymphony.org, via phone at 615-687-6400 or at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center box office in Nashville, Tennessee, and here's a new video, just posted by Roger onto his official Facebook page, with him talking about the show...

Last night (Saturday, December 13th), David Gilmour was amongst the guest performers to join Bombay Bicycle Club onstage at London's iconic Earls Court. The concert was the last ever gig to take place at the much-loved venue before it is demolished and the land redeveloped into housing and retail.
In his segment, almost half-way into the concert, Gilmour played lap steel guitar on the London band's own song 'Rinse Me Down', before he picked up an acoustic guitar and sang Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here', much to the delight of the packed-out crowd.
Gilmour was introduced onto the stage by Bombay Bicycle Club guitarist Jamie MacColl. "This man gave me my first guitar and was one of the first people to play this venue and by my count has played here more than 27 times," he commented. Pink Floyd first played Earls Court in 1973 (the first year concerts were held in the venue), performing The Dark Side Of The Moon, and returned many times, concluding the 1994 Division Bell tour with a string of dates with proceeds going to a range of charities.

Interest in Pink Floyd's new album, The Endless River, shows little sign of waning, despite the heavy pre-sales/advance orders of the album, and the high sales figures seem on the week of release.
Amazon.co.uk has today revealed the most wished for artist albums of Christmas 2014, with British acts dominating the top ten. Pink Floyd's The Endless River, Ed Sheeran's X and Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour top the chart, with One Direction's new release Four and George Ezra's Wanted On Voyage rounding off the top five. Elsewhere on the chart are the Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, and AC/DC.
Director of Amazon EU Digital Music, Steve Bernstein, said: "British music is currently undergoing a tremendous popularity boom, both in the UK and worldwide. It's really exciting to see the widespread appeal of younger artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and One Direction, as well as the likes of legendary acts such as Pink Floyd and Take That. Further, it's no surprise to see Pink Floyd at the top of the wishlist. Their album launch was one of the most successful in Amazon history and will be a welcome addition to any customers' stocking come Christmas morning."
As a side effect of interest in The Endless River, guess what album has returned to Billboard's 200 Chart? Yes, that's right - The Dark Side Of The Moon. The album has re-entered their top 20, at the number 13 spot. They credit this sudden jump in sales as "thanks to ultra-cheap pricing in the Google Play store (where the classic set was discounted to 99-cents in the tracking week ending December 7). It moved just over 38,000 album equivalent units last week, comprised mostly of pure album sales (nearly 38,000; up 940 percent). That's the album's highest rank since the October 15, 2011-dated chart, when it re-entered at number 12 following a new deluxe reissue. With 889 weeks on the chart, it continues to rule as the album with most charted weeks in the history of the tally. The next-closest album, in terms of longevity, is Johnny Mathis' Johnny's Greatest Hits, with 490 weeks." Obviously, these figures are US-sales only.
