Following his performance of the show on December 13th in Dubai, "Guy Pratt is The Sideman" is lined up for another unmissable performance, this time being held in London in February 2017.

For those who aren't aware of this show, in February 2013 Guy performed in a packed, sold out Komedia in Brighton for the first night of a then new tour, presenting "Guy Pratt is The Sideman". The one-man show celebrated Guy's 30 years as the bass player of choice for the heavyweights of rock and pop, including Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Robert Palmer, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Page, David Coverdale, Womack & Womack, and The Smiths.

His one man show is all about life at the pointy end of the music business; Guy regales audiences with at times jaw-dropping stories from behind the scenes - the real truth about being on the road or in a recording studio! His self-deprecating wit is irresistible and his rip-roaring anecdotes have to be heard to be believed. With frequent musical examples courtesy of his beloved vintage Fender bass, and a electric guitar and amp combo, the Brighton audience clearly had a great time, even coercing Guy into an encore for the extended show. Similar scenes were found on the rest of that tour, three years ago now.

Due to popular demand, the show is performed on occasion still, and you have an opportunity early next year to catch it, in London. The show (with a live set by Willow Robinson, and a DJ set by Gus Robertson) takes place from 9pm on Friday, February 10th at Juju's Bar & Stage, which is part of the Old Truman Brewery complex on London's Brick Lane. A very interesting little treat has now appeared online - a five and a half minute video looking at the construction and preparations for David Gilmour’s concert in Wroclaw, Poland, on June 25th this year, which was televised live in that country.

As we previous reported on March 5th 2016 (and first mentioned on our site at the end of 2015) Another Brick In The Wall - The Opera receives its world premiere at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts, in Montréal, Quebec, Canada on March 11th 2017, with subsequent performances taking place through the month.

The press conference for the series of performances was held at the Olympic Stadium, the scene of the infamous spitting incident which inspired The Wall. "It was unpleasant," said Waters. "I accept that. I was unpleasant. The audience was unpleasant. But it clearly had an effect on me and the story I tell is that it had some impact on me creating this piece of theatre, which is extremely valuable to me.

"I was pissed off or disaffected because of a large number of people who, with all due respect to the population of Montreal, were drunk and not really paying much attention to what was going on on stage and some kid was scrambling up the front [of the stage] and I think that I spat at him. I realised I was at the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong thing. And I needed to express that I didn’t feel human and we all want to feel human. My response to that was to write a show that involved building a huge wall between me and the people that I was trying to communicate with.

“At the end of the day, The Wall is about a journey from spitting in someone’s face towards a position where love becomes more important and our responsibility to those that share this planet with us becomes more important than our desire to engage in things that make us richer.”

In Sweden, a curious production of Pink Floyd songs, related visuals, and storytelling, has travelled the country leaving a trail of glowing reviews. The band is P-Floyd and they are known to spare no efforts in presenting a show with strong sonic and visual impact. The new production is an interesting approach of how to tell the Pink Floyd story, including many of the band’s twists and turns, playing pertinent songs to follow the storyline. All this has been adapted to fit the classic concept of the seven deadly sins, with a narrator taking the stage between songs and seamlessly fitting stories and visuals into the overall musical concept.

Seven Deadly Sins offers P-Floyd in an audio-visual production intertwining with contemplation of the fatal weaknesses that make us the people we are – and particularly as they relate to the front figures of Pink Floyd. The audience can expect large investments in sound, lighting and theatrical elements, but above all a unique Pink Floyd experience from one of the world's foremost concept bands. In Sweden, the newspaper reviews have talked about “absolute top class”, “the total Pink Floyd experience”, “best concert of the year”. Thanks to such reception, the show is now scheduled for an arena tour next autumn, including the Ericsson Globe arena in Stockholm.

During their twenty years as a band P-Floyd has played many sold out concert halls in Scandinavia. The most important events however are the ones played in the open pit mine converted into a concert arena, Dalhalla, a stage used for opera music and also by the likes of Neil Young and Sting. For this they have been awarded ”Live Act of the Year” at the Dalecarlia Music Awards. Their shows there are filled with lasers, video, theatre, pyrotechnics, stunt flying and even mountaineering - treating Pink Floyd's musical heritage as if it were their own, never afraid of innovation.

On October 27th this year, P-Floyd’s Jan Stumsner (guitars) and Peter Holmstedt (bass) joined Men On The Border and a full symphony orchestra in celebrating Syd Barrett, at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, the location of his last ever concert. Now the full band is coming over to present their work to a London audience, having now announced a unique one-off performance of Seven Deadly Sins at the Union Chapel, London on Friday May 26th 2017.
