One could imagine some inspiration from the Dark Side of Lagoon for this latest news story... sorry, couldn't resist! A new species of shrimp has been named in honour of Pink Floyd - the pistol, or snapping shrimp, now known as synalpheus pinkfloydi, uses its large pink claw to create a noise so loud (some 210 decibels, louder even than a Motorhead concert in their heyday) to kill its prey.
The team behind the discovery spoke to the BBC. Sammy De Grave, head of research at Oxford University Museum of National History - a fan of the band since he was a teenager - said "I have been listening to Floyd since The Wall was released in 1979, when I was 14 years old. The description of this new species of pistol shrimp was the perfect opportunity to finally give a nod to my favourite band. We are all Pink Floyd fans, and we always said if we would find a pink one, a new species of pink shrimp, we would name it after Pink Floyd."
Our thanks to everyone who got in contact with the information of this new discovery.

Tickets are now on sale to see Roger Waters in conversation with Jon Pareles, the chief pop-music critic at The New York Times, on April 26th.
The duo will discuss Waters' first solo studio album in 25 years, entitled "Is This the Life We Really Want?" which is being released on May 19th. With no signs of slowing down, Waters will also be embarking on an extensive tour, "Roger Waters — Us + Them," kicking off on May 26th in Kansas City, then travelling around North America prior to shows anticipated to be announced for other parts of the world.
Taking place at Florence Gould Hall, East 59th Street in New York, the event starts at 7pm. It promises an evening of contemplative discussion about his storied career, his message of humanity, and how empathy is the key to getting the life we really want.

The UK's Sky Arts TV channel have announced a new series of interviews hosted by former AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, who left the band last year on medical grounds.
The six-part TV show explores what life is like touring the globe as part of a legendary rock act. Screened weekly on Sky Arts from Friday 28th April onwards, Brian Johnson's Life On The Road sees the vocalist interview six fellow rock icons to get an insight into the ups and downs of being on tour – from the euphoria of performing live in massive stadia to the debauchery, sleep deprivation and fallouts.
The show kicks off with Brian interviewing his friend of 40 years, The Who's Roger Daltrey, and follows with Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, Sting, Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott, and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant. Announcing the show, Sky Arts said: "One of rock music's iconic and tour-hardened frontmen, Brian Johnson, gives us a brand new and exclusive take on one aspect of the rock and roll life: live performance, touring and being 'on the road'."
The schedule for Brian Johnson's Life On The Road is as follows:
- Brian Johnson and Roger Daltrey – 28th April
- Brian Johnson and Lars Ulrich – 5th May
- Brian Johnson and Nick Mason – 12th May
- Brian Johnson and Sting – 19th May
- Brian Johnson and Joe Elliott – 26th May
- Brian Johnson and Robert Plant – 2nd June
As yet, there's no indication that this will be aired outside the UK, although many places in Europe can also see Sky Arts via satellite TV.

With the Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains getting ever closer (it opens on May 13th 2017, at the Victoria & Albert - or V&A - in London's Kensington) we've now been given these pictures showing the first of the major artefacts arriving, and carefully being taken into the gallery reserved for Their Mortal Remains.
As you'll see from these pictures, the item in question is one of the 'metal' Division Bell heads. With an item as large (and as precious) as this, the narrow corridors and corners found in places such as the V&A prove a tricky task. However, the norm is to use a team who are used to moving such things, and the head reached its final destination.
It's great to see this final stage starting, with the exhibition becoming a reality. Tickets for the exhibition are now on sale, and are priced at £20 (Monday-Friday), £24 (Saturday-Sunday), and concessions, including family tickets at reduced prices, are available. V&A Members go free. Advance booking is strongly advised. Tickets can be purchased using these direct links at Ticketmaster, Seetickets, from the V&A at vam.ac.uk/pinkfloyd, by calling 0800 912 6961 (booking fee applies), or in person at the V&A.
Whether or not you are going to the exhibition, you can enjoy the contents of Their Mortal Remains by placing your order for the 304-page companion book, certain to be an essential addition to the Floydian bookshelf, through the following links: Amazon UK, Amazon.com, Amazon Canada, Amazon France, Amazon Germany, Amazon Spain and Amazon Italy. Orders placed before publication (due to be the opening day of the exhibition - May 13th) will benefit from Amazon's pre-order price guarantee - if the price drops at any point between your order, and the publication date, they automatically will charge you the lowest price.
