COMMENTS

It is worth noting that the six shows at Rome's Circus Maximus are the entirety of his Italy (and indeed, European) performances this time around. We suspect there could be dates elsewhere announced in due course.

Tickets will go on general sale through this link at Ticketone.it, on May 17th. From May 15th at 9am until May 16th at 11:59pm, there will also be a Virgin Radio, and Sonyo, presale, as well as a presale for those who have preordered Luck and Strange from the official David Gilmour Italian Album Store. We are sure that demand will be high for these special concerts.

SET LIST - highlight the following with your mouse to read...
FIRST HALF: 5am, Black Cat, Luck and Strange, Breathe, Time, Breathe Reprise, Fat Old Sun, Marooned, Wish You Were Here, Vita Brevis, Between Two Points, High Hopes.
SECOND HALF:
Sorrow, The Piper's Call, A Great Day For Freedom, In Any Tongue, The Great Gig In The Sky, A Boat Lies Waiting, Coming Back To Life, Dark and Velvet Nights, Scattered ENCORE: Comfortably Numb.

WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!

Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played!

Night two of the tour, and the second night in the Eternal City, Rome, in Italy.

The set list experienced on the first night was unchanged for this second concert, and we suspect it will be pretty much cast in stone for the rest of the dates. However, David has in the past added in the odd song, and made the occasional change, so never say never!

There were a couple of notable things about this gig - which apparently saw a stronger performance all round, as presumably the band are getting more "match fit" - there were a larger number of High Hopes weather balloons bounced around the front of the audience area, during that song. The other notable occurrence was that David's guitar strap on his Black Cat Strat came adrift during the early part of Comfortably Numb. Phil Taylor, David's long-standing guitar tech (over 50 years now!) quickly appeared with a back-up Black Strat which was swapped in.

We'd love to know in more detail how the concert went. Did you go? Let us know what YOU thought!

CONCERT COMMENTS and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, PETR CEJKA

I flew from Prague to Rome to see 2 absolutely AWESOME David Gilmour concerts in Rome and because I was able to take my camera there, I took some "quite good" photos from both nights. My pictures are from 28th and 29th September, and below are those from the 28th.

CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, TOMMASO PRALORAN

Gilmour's concert was fantastic, a wonderful experience...I was moved several times. The emotion I felt cannot be described in words, really. Definitely, it was the best day of my life!

I think that Gilmour sang and played the guitar very well despite the fact that the tour had just started, and the chemistry with the other musicians also seemed very good...in particular, I think that the new guitarist, Ben Worsley, is excellent!

My highlights of the show were Marooned (brilliant performance!), Fat Old Sun (sung perfectly and with a magnificent final solo) and especially High Hopes, which gave me goosebumps!

Among the tracks of the new album, the most successful was in my opinion Scattered...very, very beautiful! But I loved the tile-track as well, and the opening of the concert with 5a.m. and Black Cat was also mind-blowing.

Of course, Wish You Were Here was another special moment, and I am glad that A Great Day For Freedom and In Any Tongue were on the setlist because in this historical context they take on a very special meaning.

YOUR HELP NEEDED! We want to cover David's concerts the best we can, to share the experience with everyone, especially those who won't be able to attend the shows. We'd love to see ANY pictures, tickets scans, reviews, newspaper reports, and anything else you come across for this show - we look forward to hearing from you!
