COMMENTS

Roger's new tour - THIS IS NOT A DRILL - has now been announced, and is a new production. As when his previous tour (Us + Them) was announced, details of what this new show will entail are brief; we suspect a new set list, and new presentation, and the image created to publicise the tour does note that the show will be "live in the round" - a departure from Roger's previous shows.

Those who have attended - or have seen pictures/video of - Roger's previous tours, will know just how spectacular and moving this new production is likely to be, and how it is a show you really shouldn't miss! From comments Roger has made in recent interviews, it could be his final tour...

Using this direct link also helps toward the ongoing running costs of this site, and is appreciated! Our thanks to William Buckley for the ticket scan shown to the right. As with many concert tickets these days, it is an eTicket, which is a shame for those of us who love saving our tickets, and browsing through them in later years!

UPDATE: Due to the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, this show has been postponed from its original date in 2020. Roger said about the cancellations: "Bummer, but if it saves one life, it's worth it."

Ticketholders are advised to hold onto their original tickets and await further information.

SET LIST - highlight the following with your mouse to read...
FIRST HALF: Comfortably Numb, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2, Another Brick in the Wall, Part 3, The Powers That Be, The Bravery of Being Out of Range, The Bar, Have A Cigar, Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Sheep. SECOND HALF: In the Flesh, Run Like Hell, Déjà Vu, Is This the Life We Really Want?, Money, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage, Eclipse, Two Suns in the Sunset, The Bar (Reprise), Outside the Wall.

WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!

Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played!

Night thirty-four of the tour, with just nine shows left for Roger and his band on their This Is Not A Drill tour, who were appearing in San Francisco, California, for the second of a brace of shows at this venue. Two days off - albeit in part travelling and setting up the stage - for the brace of shows in Los Angeles.

Initial reports from the fan community are that the show was quite an experience, but as always, we value your first hand views on all the concerts - so if you went, please let us know your thoughts!

CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, William Buckley

Rog put on a great show last night! Here is my take:

I had purchased these tickets before COVID hit and have been looking forward to the show for years. Somehow, this feels like the last time I will get to see Roger and fortunately, I had great seats.

I have lived my whole life in San Francisco, and this was my first visit to the Chase Center. It is a lovely venue with all the bells and whistles you would expect from a modern arena. The acoustics leave something to be desired however. That being said, the band played with intensity and precision. They are certainly firing on all cylinders at this point of the tour.

I have seen Roger on every tour since the 80's and tonight was very different. I have never seen him so happy or animated. From the very fist song, Roger was pumping his fists, shaking his shoulders, and dancing. More importantly, he was smiling throughout and seemed to enjoy the interaction with his audience.

The stage show for this tour is very different from past tours. Playing in the round gives Roger the ability to spend time with all of the arena, although he did seem to spend more time interacting with my section. No complaints here! The videos were very touching and deal with so many of the atrocities we see in this modern age. This is to be expected at a Roger Waters concert. What I was not expecting however, was all of the personal insights and stories he shared about his time with Floyd and Sid. It was extremely touching and more than a couple of fans were moved to tears. Finally, Roger made it a point to bring attention to the indigenous people who once lived on the land we were gathering on. It was a nice touch and was received very well by the crowd.

Rog was a bit chatty tonight, and it was nice to see him just riff and share his thoughts and humour. He calls the venue "The Bar" and it felt like it in the sense that we were all spending time with each other on a safe place.

The set list was very good, and it was nice to be able to hear "The Powers that Be" live again. Unfortunately, many in the audience did not seem to know the song, nor anything post The Wall. As a lifelong fan, I wish there were more selections from KAOS, Amused to Death, Hitchhiking, and Is this the Life, but I understand that many are there just for the hits.

For me, the highlights were Sheep, Have a Cigar, Deja Vu, and Wish You Were Here. That being said, there were no duds. Every single song was well thought out and performed flawlessly. Which brings us to the band...

The band is on fire. Every single one of them brings passion and intensity to the show. Roger consistently surrounds himself with the best musicians around, and this tour is no different. The background vocalists are extremely good.

As the concert progresses you can't help but feel a range of powerful emotions. One moment you are smiling ear to ear and taking in an incredible Rock and Roll show, and the next you are sickened by the atrocities being shown on the screen. Fortunately, Roger tempers the heavy stuff with some genuinely funny moments. Make no mistake, you will be moved by what you see. This tour, more than any other, is full of emotional images and provocative video. Going through this range of emotions in a concert is thought provoking to say the least. At the end of the evening you are happy to be alive and witnessing this great production. At the same time you are well aware that we all have some work to do if we are to change the course of the world. I imagine this is what Rog really wanted.

YOUR HELP NEEDED! We want to cover Roger's concerts the best we can, to share the experience with everyone, especially those who won't be able to attend the shows. We'd love to see ANY pictures, tickets scans, reviews, newspaper reports, and anything else you come across for this show - we look forward to hearing from you!
