Roger's Us + Them tour heads into Europe following the successful 2017 shows in the US and Canada, and plays at a venue that last saw some Pink Floyd music in 2016, when David Gilmour, his old bandmate, played a pair of shows at the ancient site. At the original announcement for the tour, the following was revealed:
"We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very
secret," said Roger Waters. "It'll be a mixture of stuff from my long
career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably
75% of it will be old material and 25% will be new, but it will be all
connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you.
It'll be spectacular like all my shows have been.”
The announcement notes that "Roger Waters' legendary live performances
are renowned as immersive sensory experiences featuring high class,
state-of-the-art audio visual production and breathtaking quad sound.
This new tour promises to be no exception; following months of
meticulous planning and visionary craft, US + Them will inspire crowds
with its powerful delivery and take the audience on an unforgettable
musical journey."
Those who have attended - or have seen pictures/video of - the US and Canadian shows, will know just how spectacular and moving this new production is, and how it is a show you really shouldn't miss!
Tickets will cost from 80 to 110 euros (for the Pit area). The pre-sales started, for everyone, on Thursday, December 14th at 7am CET, on the sites of Ticketone.it and D'Alessandro & Galli, and from Friday, December 15th at 11am in all authorized sales points. The final show (ever?) from Roger Waters in Italy, and where better to perform it, but the beautiful city of Rome, and the Circus Maximus, a truly historical venue. As with the Hyde Park and Lucca shows, this outdoor version of the staging is pretty spectacular. It also featured a sacrificial Algie, as you'll see below.
The show saw the return of Mother into the set list - becoming an unusual selection in recent concerts - and prior to this, Roger addressed the audience for a reported 15 minutes, bringing the show length to around two and a half hours.
There's a break now for a couple of weeks or so, before the tour resumes in Poland. Let us know if you are going to any of the upcoming gigs!
First, here's the video from the show from Roger's official Facebook page…
