Roger's Us + Them tour heads into Europe following the successful 2017 shows in the US and Canada.
At the original announcement, the following was revealed:
"We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very
secret," said Roger Waters. "It'll be a mixture of stuff from my long
career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably
75% of it will be old material and 25% will be new, but it will be all
connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you.
It'll be spectacular like all my shows have been.”
The announcement notes that "Roger Waters' legendary live performances
are renowned as immersive sensory experiences featuring high class,
state-of-the-art audio visual production and breathtaking quad sound.
This new tour promises to be no exception; following months of
meticulous planning and visionary craft, US + Them will inspire crowds
with its powerful delivery and take the audience on an unforgettable
musical journey."
Those who have attended - or have seen pictures/video of - the US and Canadian shows, will know just how spectacular and moving this new production is, and how it is a show you really shouldn't miss!

The first show of the European leg of 2018 Us + Them tour in the beautiful city of Barcelona, in Spain. The set list has returned to its normal one, with Mother returned as the penultimate song (as opposed to the trio of songs which conclude his recent album, occasionally used in this part of the set, and in the previous show (the last of the Australian/New Zealand tour).
First, here's a video from the show from Roger's official Facebook page…

The concert got a lot of attention from the local media, as the review below, by Nick Spekkels, discusses, and Nick kindly sent in pictures of some of the newspaper articles he saw:
CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Nick Spekkels
Friday the 13th of April, Barcelona, the first concert from Roger in Europe for this tour.
On the way from Amsterdam to Barcelona we already got introduced to the Spanish Pink Floyd enthusiasm as we saw a nice article in the airplane magazine (Vueling) about the upcoming Waters show.
The venue Palau Sant Jordi is part of the 1992 Olympic park and a great place for concerts. We had seats on the 8th row in the middle of the arena, so probably one of the best places to be for the second half of the show to see the screens, but it was a bit far from the podium itself I must say.
The sound itself was good, however the sound of the effects was over all speakers (surround) and the sound from the band only came from the 2 front speakers. This gave a problem in some songs where the "special sound effects" are mixed in the song, like the bridge between Happiest Days Of Our Lives and Another Brick In the Wall part 2, but also during Time, Welcome To The Machine, Dogs, etc.. Imagine the song Dogs and then the lines "Just another sad old man, All alone and dying of cancer..." At the end of the last word the sung part goes into the sound effect echo, but that just did not sound right having the song part from two front speakers and then the effect much harder from the surrounding speakers!
In regards of Roger, he was quite joyful and amused, he really seemed to enjoy giving the performance. Also I must say his vocals were good (much better than the last live show I saw back in 2013), perhaps the short break between Australia and Europe was a welcome break? The show itself was awesome, light effects, screen movies, the band and a joyful Roger made it a great night.
The playlist was the same as most shows. I loved Deja Vu, I like the song itself, but hearing it live for the first time gave me goosebumps. However funnily enough after that came The Last Refugee and to me personally it just did not have that same effect. I also noticed that the crowd around me was not keeping the attention during that song, people started chatting a bit. It is a nice song with a great message, but it is I think just not a song for a live show. Picture That on the other hand is a great live-show song, really enjoyed that one too.
During the second half Dogs and Pigs were to me the real highlights of the show, great songs, great performance and nice show elements.
At the end the Prism laser effects during Brain Damage and Eclipse were awesome, I saw pictures in beforehand, but seeing it live just is not comparable with the pix.
Next morning I saw on TV in a Spanish breakfast show a 5 minute special on Waters. Also most newspapers had a big article about the show next day, but all in Spanish, so can't tell you what they wrote, sorry ;-)
All in all a great show with a great performance of Roger! Looking forward already to the Amsterdam shows in June ;-)
