Night fifty of the tour, and the end of the tour is now in sight - but first things first, and this stop off in Grand Rapids. Local Michigan press M Live were there and called the production "an immaculate sound-and-vision spectacular" noting that "it's amazingly elaborate, impeccably executed and possibly unforgettable - even for the stone-sober."
If you went to this show in Grand Rapids please let us know what you thought of the event, and if anything interesting or different happened if you've been to previous shows and can compare.
CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Joe VanDyke
The show was fantastic of course. I saw Roger do the Wall in October 2010 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and this was overall a better show than the first experience. Sound quality was better in Grand Rapids than at the Palace. Van Andel Arena is much smaller, and it looks like they bring the
sound equipment into a smaller place and it just makes it so much more powerful. There were subtle differences in stage effects, video, and film that just made it even better. I feel so lucky to have been able to see such a show once, and now twice is just amazing.
The crowd in Grand Rapids really seemed to love it also. The reactions were overwhelming, and Roger made mention of what a great crowd we were. I don't get the sense he says the same canned lines at the end of a show, so his appreciation of a good crowd seemed heart felt. He really seemed moved at how into it everybody was. I sat in the lower bowl, looking straight at the stage, dead center. Perfect seats to see the show. The people around me really seemed blown away by the production, saying things like "this is way more than I thought it was going to be." It really is shocking how well the technology is used to present this show.
As the wall came down at the end, one large section of it tumbled back toward the instruments rather than toward the crowd. That was kind of funny to watch.
All in all, a perfect show once again.
