Getting to the mid-point of the European tour of The Wall, Roger Waters arrives in St Petersburg. Next, the tour travels to Helsinki in Finland.
Our thanks to Alexander from Moscow, for the scans of the ticket (to the right), the show poster (again, right), and for the flyer, which you can see by clicking the thumbnail to the left as it's quite long!
The RogerWaters.com presales began the week starting Monday, May 31st, with advance tickets available to those who had registered their interest in particular cities. General sale tickets went on sale at the start of June through www.kassir.ru, official ticketing outlet. Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played, and what happened as the night unfolded!
Night twenty of the tour, and the second of two shows in Russia, performing at St Peterburg's SKK Arena. If you went to this show, please let us know what you thought of the event, and if anything interesting or different happened if you've been to previous shows and can compare.
Our friend Sergey Malyshev tells us that in St Petersburg the billboards and posters had a special wording in Russian at the bottom saying that "The Wall will be destroyed". There was nothing of the kind in Moscow.
In another contribution from Sergey, we can bring you the information that there's a small video clip of Mother shot at the concert, aired on local TV station Piter that you can view online through this link.
CONCERT REVIEW, VIDEOS and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Sergey Malyshev
We bought the tickets in November 2010 at the cheapest rate, 2000 Rubles (50 Euro), we (my wife, daughter aged 10, and me) were sitting at the very top of the SKK arena. A lot of people brought their children there. People below us paid 5 or even 7000 Rubles for a ticket. The fanzone before the stage was 3500 (87.5 Euro) Rubles worth.
But it was worth every bloody penny! Just stunning! It is a mindblowing CLASSIC! The last and only concert of the past REAL ROCK!
CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Simon Gibbons
Being a British expat based in Russia I was lucky enough to see the show in Saint Petersburg - I was even more lucky to be at the 2 opening nights in Toronto last year.
Well what can you say - same show - same words - beyond belief - magical - exciting - awesome.
The arena in Saint Petersburg is not up to the standards of the arenas you would expect in North America and Europe - bit Soviet style - but that did not dampen the excited crowd.
As always Roger and co. played a blinder from start to end - the crowd seemed somewhat stunned at the show which is understandable given the size of the production.
If this is indeed his last full tour it's a great way to say good bye !
Thank you Roger is all you can really add.
Next stop for me is Dusseldorf - should be interesting as for the shows to date I have been towards the back of the arenas which is a good place to be in order to take in the full production - in Dusseldorf I have a front row seat in the middle. Roll on. We shall never see or hear the likes of this again.
