As we announced earlier today, June 3rd, 2016 is a date to put into the diary. On that day, the newly named Pink Floyd Records will begin the reintroduction of the band's catalogue on vinyl for the first time in over two decades. Released on that date will be the first four albums - 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn', 'A Saucerful of Secrets', the 'More' soundtrack, and the 2LP, half-studio, half-live 'Ummagumma'. We now have ordering details and the cover images for you (click thumbnail to the right).
Special care has been taken to replicate the original packaging, with a removable sticker placed on the cover giving details of the nature of the release. Ummagumma will be - as expected - a gatefold cover for the two records.
The first batch of releases, mastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman will be pressed on 180gram vinyl for optimum sound quality. Pink Floyd Records releases will be manufactured and distributed by Warner Music for the UK and Europe and by Sony Music for North America and the rest of the world.
The rest of the vinyl catalogue will follow throughout the year, with release dates being announced at regular intervals.
Naturally, as we get further release dates we will let you know.
We know there are many vinyl fans out there reading this, and we're sure these will be very popular releases. We'd therefore recommend you get orders in early; Amazon offer a pre-order price guarantee, automatically charging you the lowest price they offer things for, between the time you order an item, and the release date. Here are the ordering links - using these will give a small but vital contribution to the running costs of Brain Damage, without costing you a penny/cent extra, and we really appreciate it!
