The US Best Buy store chain has come up with a special item released as part of the Why Pink Floyd remaster and collectors edition campaign, that Floyd collectors (and those after a sneak preview of things to come) will want to snap up.
Simply titled Pink Floyd Sampler, it comes in a specially designed gatefold card slipcase, just like the Discovery editions which were released this week. The first three of the six tracks to be found on this are Money, Wish You Were Here, and Another Brick In The Wall, part 2, all 2011 remaster versions, and no surprises with these inclusions on this sampler. Track four is Us and Them, live from Wembley 1974, as found on the Experience and Immersion DSOTM.
Tracks five and six are where the disc ventures into preview territory: first you have an 'Alternate' version of Have A Cigar, which features not only a completely different musical performance from the whole band, but also lists David Gilmour and Roy Harper on vocals (even though it seems to clearly be Roger Waters with Harper)! This comes with the upcoming Experience and Immersion editions of Wish You Were Here, and is wonderful to hear. Then there's a demo (and I think a band demo, from the sound of it) of Another Brick part 1. This will be on the Experience and Immersion editions of The Wall, coming in February 2012. Completely different lyrics and musical performance, and in sparkling quality, too.
Bestbuy.com are offering the sampler online, but for international buyers, you'll need to have an address in the US to get it delivered to, as they won't ship abroad unfortunately. Our thanks to Brad Kaplan for his help with the info.
